Senior RHEL Satellite Engineer / Team Lead
About Trilogy Innovations
At Trilogy Innovations, we are committed to driving meaningful change for our customers and communities through smart, innovative technology that solves real problems. As a growing systems and software engineering company, we partner across public and private sectors to modernize enterprise systems, strengthen security, and deliver high value solutions. We are scaling with purpose, investing in our people, processes, and platforms as we expand. We work hard, think creatively, and value every perspective as we push boundaries and build systems that matter.
Who you are
Trilogy Innovations, Inc. is seeking a Senior RHEL Satellite Engineer to serve as Team Lead on a federal infrastructure modernization engagement supporting a critical U.S. Department of Energy mission environment. This role serves as the single point of technical accountability for delivery quality, architecture decisions, and client engagement throughout the period of performance.
The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of enterprise Linux engineering experience with deep, hands-on expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration and architecture, Red Hat Satellite design and Day-2 operations, and Ansible Automation Platform. You will lead a lean, high-impact team through a six-milestone RHEL replatforming and Satellite implementation effort in a NERC CIP-governed environment, owning the technical approach from initial assessment through knowledge transfer.
What you will do:
  • Lead Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.x, 9.x, and 10.x upgrade initiatives, including troubleshooting, migration planning, risk mitigation, and implementation of greenfield deployment strategies.
  • Design, implement, and maintain Red Hat Satellite 6.x architecture, including Capsule Server placement, content lifecycle management, patch management, and system provisioning strategies.
  • Provide technical leadership for enterprise Linux infrastructure modernization efforts, ensuring solutions align with security, scalability, performance, and operational requirements.
  • Conduct technical reviews and quality assurance of Ansible automation, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and related engineering artifacts to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and project requirements.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for government stakeholders, program leadership, and the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), providing technical guidance, status updates, and recommendations.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers by promoting best practices, reviewing technical solutions, and developing reusable automation frameworks and engineering patterns.
  • Develop, standardize, and maintain reusable automation solutions to improve consistency, efficiency, and scalability across enterprise environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify technical challenges, develop solutions, and drive successful project execution.
  • Produce, maintain, and deliver technical documentation, including design documents, implementation plans, operational procedures, and project deliverables aligned with Statement of Work (SOW) requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance automation, infrastructure management, operational processes, and service delivery.

How success is measured:
Success is defined by delivering a secure, scalable RHEL platform while leading the team to meet program milestones.
You will be successful if you:
  • Deliver target-state architecture aligned to program and compliance requirements
  • Lead technical execution across all milestones (M1-M6)
  • Ensure successful deployment and operation of OpenShift and Red Hat platforms
  • Establish strong engineering and automation standards
  • Mentor the team and drive high performance
  • Identify and mitigate risks while communicating effectively with stakeholders

What you bring
We require:
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field. Equivalent professional experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive Linux / RHEL engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a technical lead, principal engineer, or architect capacity.
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification
  • Red Hat Satellite Specialist credential
  • Demonstrated experience deploying Satellite in disconnected or semi-disconnected federal environments
  • Experience operating under compliance frameworks such as NERC CIP, FISMA, or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain a DOE Security Badge and successfully adjudicate an NBIS eApp background investigation prior to start.

Nice to have
  • Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA)
  • Existing DOE badge or active federal clearance (Public Trust, Secret, Top Secret, or TS/SCI).

Work environment: Work under this contract is performed approximately 90 percent remotely with on-site support at BPA's Ross Complex / Dittmer Control Center in Vancouver, Washington, not to exceed five business days per month per individual. To ensure responsive on-site presence, minimize travel-day overhead, and provide Pacific Time zone overlap with BPA operations, Trilogy is positioning a technical resource in the Vancouver, Washington / Portland, Oregon metropolitan area for the duration of the contract.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary range: $180,000 - $184,000

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Performance bonus eligibility
  • 401k with company match
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Health Savings Account

  • Employee referral bonus program
