This role is essential for organizations that rely on Linux infrastructure but do not require on-site administrators.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote Linux Systems Administrators, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Linux Systems Administrators often encounter challenges such as coordinating across different time zones, troubleshooting issues without physical access to hardware, and ensuring secure remote connections. Job description

Heroic Technologiesย is a growing Managed IT and Cybersecurity firm serving professional services organizations across the West Coast.ย

Despite the name, we believe great outcomes come from strong systems and teamwork,ย not last-minute rescues. Weย operateย on standards, notย heroics. Documentation, accountability, and disciplined execution matter here.ย

Our environment rewards engineers who value structure, repeatability, and long-term improvement over ad-hoc fixes.ย Ifย youโ€™reย an engineer who prefers long-term system health over firefighting,ย weโ€™dย love to meet you.ย
ย

The Roleย

We are hiring an MSP Systems Administrator to actively support and help manage client infrastructure environments. In this role, you will take ownership of day-to-day administration across standard Windows server, identity, and network environments, independently resolving routine to moderately complex issues while escalating advanced challenges to senior engineers when needed.
This position is designed as a growth track role, offering hands-on exposure to a wide range of technologies and mentorship from senior team members, with a pathway toward becoming a full Systems Administrator as your skills and experience expand.

Whatย Youโ€™llย Doย ย

  • Manage Windows Server environments (AD, DNS, DHCP, file services)ย

  • Troubleshoot Group Policy and identity issuesย

  • Manageย firewallย and VPN configurationsย

  • Support VLAN and subnet design within defined standardsย

  • Lead infrastructure upgrades and migrationsย

  • Implement secure Microsoft 365ย and other cloudย configurationsย

  • Reduce repeat issues through documentation and trainingย

At Heroic, infrastructure stewardship means ownership.ย

  • You are accountable for the stability, reliability, and security of assigned client environments.ย

  • You resolve most infrastructure issues independently and confidently.ย

  • Youย operateย within defined standardsโ€”and contribute to improving them.ย

  • You document your work so others can execute it without you.ย

  • You elevate the capability of the team, not just your own skill set.ย

Bottom line, you are not just supporting servers,ย networksย and systems. Youย are responsible forย keeping them stable, secure, and aligned to standards.ย
ย

Whatย We're Looking For

  • At least one year ofย hands-on IT infrastructure experience

  • One year of experrience in an MSP or IT services environment

  • Windows Server administration experienceย

  • Firewall/VPN configurationย and administrationย

  • Strong networking fundamentalsย

  • Proven troubleshootingย methodologyย

Preferred Competenciesย

  • MS-102 (or ability to obtain within 90 days)ย

  • Network+ย

  • Security+ย

HR Informationย

  • Full Time, permanent positionย

  • Salary: $70,000-$90,000ย

  • Medical, Dental, Vision (TriNet)ย

  • 401(k) with matchย

  • PTO + Holidaysย

  • Professional development budgetย

  • Remote role with some travel as needed - must be located in the Pacific Northwest
