Job description

Job Title - Oracle Database DBA – Oracle EBS Data Migration and Archiving
Location: Remote

Duration: Contract Opportunity
Experience: 7+ years preferred

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator for a short-term engagement supporting the Oracle database underlying a client’s Oracle E-Business Suite environment.

The primary focus of this role will be to plan and execute database-level data migration and archival activities while ensuring data integrity, performance, security, recoverability, and minimal disruption to business operations.

This is not an Oracle EBS Applications DBA role. However, the consultant should have sufficient familiarity with the Oracle EBS data model and database architecture to safely support migration, archival, reconciliation, and performance-related activities involving Oracle EBS data.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience as an Oracle Database Administrator.
  • Strong experience administering Oracle databases supporting enterprise applications.
  • Experience working with Oracle databases underlying Oracle E-Business Suite environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle Database 12c, 19c, or comparable enterprise Oracle database versions.
  • Demonstrated experience with large-scale data migration, data archival, data purge, or database consolidation initiatives.
  • Strong expertise in SQL and PL/SQL development, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with Oracle Data Pump Export and Import, SQL*Loader, external tables, database links, and other data-movement utilities.
  • Experience handling large database tables and high-volume batch-processing activities.
  • Strong understanding of database backup, recovery, RMAN, restore points, and rollback planning.
  • Experience with database performance diagnostics and tools such as AWR, ASH, ADDM, SQL Trace, TKPROF, and execution-plan analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of indexing, partitioning, statistics management, parallel execution, and SQL optimization.
  • Experience managing tablespaces, data files, archive logs, undo, temporary space, storage growth, and database capacity.
  • Strong understanding of referential integrity, data reconciliation, and data-validation techniques.
  • Experience working in Linux or Unix environments and developing shell scripts for database automation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues independently.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a short-duration, milestone-driven engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle EBS database schemas, standard tables, interface tables, concurrent-processing data, and historical transaction data.
  • Familiarity with Oracle EBS modules such as Financials, Procurement, Order Management, Inventory, Manufacturing, or Supply Chain.
  • Experience designing archival strategies for Oracle EBS or other large ERP systems.
  • Experience with Oracle partitioning and partition-based archival or purge strategies.
  • Experience with Oracle Advanced Compression or other database storage-optimization techniques.
  • Experience migrating data to archival databases, reporting databases, data warehouses, data lakes, or lower-cost storage platforms.
  • Familiarity with data-retention, privacy, audit, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager or comparable database-monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, GoldenGate, or high-availability environments.
  • Experience supporting database upgrades, cloud migrations, or platform-modernization programs.
