Job description

Job Title: System Design Engineer Location: Bellevue, WA Type: Contract Contractor Work Model: Remote – offsite Hours: 40.0 Security Clearance: Not specified

Overview

Responsibilities

  • Design nuclear and industrial process systems and sub-systems from concept through final design
  • Develop and maintain mass and energy balance models for system performance and analysis
  • Coordinate and integrate results from multi-discipline analyses (thermal, structural, seismic, pipe stress, heat transfer) into system design
  • Apply industry codes and standards (ASME, ANS, ASTM, IEEE, NFPA) to system designs
  • Develop system documentation including: System Design Descriptions, Engineering Design Specifications, Interface Control Documents
  • Support design package development including P&IDs, 3D models, and system drawings
  • Coordinate across engineering disciplines (mechanical, I&C, civil, nuclear)
  • Provide technical oversight of suppliers and support design reviews
  • Support testing, validation, and system qualification activities
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Nuclear, or related Engineering discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in system design and engineering
  • Strong background in thermodynamics, fluid systems, heat transfer, and mechanical/process systems
  • Experience building and maintaining mass & energy balance models (Aspen HYSYS / Aspen Plus)
  • Ability to read and develop P&IDs
  • Experience with complex system integration and multi-discipline coordination
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
