Summary

Energy / IT Solutions Analyst II

The Energy / IT Solutions Analyst II helps keep APS’s non‑nuclear power generation facilities reliable, secure, and ready for the future. By supporting and protecting the IT and operational technology systems that run generation operations, this role plays a direct part in delivering safe, dependable, and affordable energy to communities across Arizona. The work strengthens system resilience, reduces risk, and ensures critical infrastructure is available around the clock for the millions of customers who rely on APS every day.

What Your Day Would Be Like:

  • Supporting IT and operational technology systems that enable safe, continuous power generation across non‑nuclear facilities

  • Partnering with plant teams, IT, cybersecurity, and compliance groups to resolve issues and strengthen system reliability

  • Applying patches, upgrades, and security protections to reduce vulnerabilities across IT and OT environments

  • Troubleshooting application, system, and network issues in time‑sensitive, mission‑critical situations

  • Contributing to disaster recovery readiness and system resilience efforts

  • Providing remote support and participating in a rotating 24/7 on‑call schedule, with occasional travel to APS power plants

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Experience supporting IT systems or applications in operational, industrial, or energy‑related environments

  • Knowledge of system reliability, application support, and foundational cybersecurity principles, including ICS environments

  • Comfort working across both IT and OT infrastructure

Minimum Requirements

Energy / IT Solutions Analyst II

  • Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field

  • PLUS two (2) years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.

  • Requires working technical knowledge gained through experience within a job area or system.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

  • Experience with enterprise Windows SCCM patch management platform

  • Operational knowledge of endpoint protection applications such as antivirus, system logging, and enterprise monitoring

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Server/Client operating systems (including Active Directory) and Linux system administration

  • Familiarization with Microsoft SQL and Powershell applications

  • Self-motivated and team spirited.

  • Operating knowledge of industrial control systems (ICS) cyber security

  • Understanding of NERC CIP concepts and compliance with set standards

  • Ability to work in varied settings from data centers and offices to industrial remote locations throughout the state of Arizona and New Mexico.

Major Accountabilities

  • Executes application and operating system patching across Microsoft and Linux environments using SCCM and other vendor-based tools.

  • Utilize enterprise security and scanning tools to identify software and hardware vulnerabilities.

  • Coordinates with cybersecurity, infrastructure teams, and application owners to assess, prioritize, and implement remediation plans for identified vulnerabilities.

  • Supports production systems, analyzes, and resolves production problems in a timely manner; resolves end user service requests as assigned.

  • Assist with data backup and document/perform annual disaster recovery testing evolutions.

  • Independently reviews and verifies low risk changes and escalates as necessary.

  • Migrates and deploys moderately complex solutions

  • Participates in on-call rotation to support operations and maintenance of the human to machine (HMI) systems during off hours

  • Suggests improvements that mitigate risks and create a more reliable and efficient electrical grid

This position requires Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) access consistent with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards. The applicant considered for this role will be required to obtain and maintain CIP access for the duration of employment in this position. A full seven (7) year criminal history will be obtained through the pre-employment background check process (or, for current employees, through supplemental background check process) to fulfill the CIP access requirements. In addition, this position requires an additional background check every seven years to maintain access.

Home based: Home based employees primarily work from their home offices and come into an APS facility on an as-needed basis.

  • Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).

  • Working from a home office requires adequate technology and an appropriate ergonomic set up.
