Remote Line Producer information

What is a remote line producer?

A remote line producer is a production professional responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a film, television, or video project from a remote location. They oversee the budget, schedule, and logistics, coordinating with directors, crew, and vendors virtually. Remote line producers ensure that projects stay on track and within budget, leveraging digital tools for communication and workflow management. Their role is essential for productions that operate in multiple locations or require remote collaboration due to health, safety, or logistical reasons.

How does a remote line producer manage production schedules and budgets while coordinating with a distributed team?

A Remote Line Producer oversees the daily operations of a production by closely monitoring schedules and budgets, even when working with teams in different locations. This involves using project management tools to track progress, holding regular virtual meetings to ensure alignment, and maintaining clear communication with department heads and vendors. Staying organized and proactive about potential issues is key, as remote coordination often requires anticipating delays and quickly resolving logistical challenges. Successful Remote Line Producers are adept at fostering collaboration and accountability across time zones, ensuring production goals are met efficiently.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote line producer?

To thrive as a Remote Line Producer, you need a solid background in production management, budgeting, scheduling, and logistics, usually gained through a degree in film, media, or a related field and extensive production experience. Familiarity with production management software (such as Movie Magic or StudioBinder), video conferencing tools, and digital collaboration platforms is crucial. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills help you coordinate remote teams and handle unexpected challenges. These skills ensure that productions are delivered efficiently, on time, and within budget, even when teams are dispersed geographically.

Job description

At Code and Theory, we thrive at the intersection of creativity and technology. We build brands through big ideas, bold storytelling, and content that actually moves people. Our teams don't just execute work. They shape it. Through a culture of invention, we turn ambitious concepts into memorable experiences that resonate across every channel.

Production is the engine that drives creative work forward at Code and Theory. Our producers are equal parts creative partner and operational powerhouse: planning, scoping, pricing, challenging, and innovating to bring structure to the chaos so the best work can thrive. They know how to spot a great concept, push it further, and get it out the door on time and on budget - while keeping clients genuinely excited about what they're building together.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Champion great ideas from the jump. You collaborate with creative, strategy, and technology to shape work that's compelling, on-brand, and worth talking about
  • Own projects from the first brief or pitch all the way through final delivery
  • Proactively identify risks, maintain a mitigation plan, and know when to escalate
  • Hold complex programs together across concurrent workstreams
  • Serve as the day to day client contact on your accounts. You're the person the client calls, and they're glad they did
  • Build genuine trust with senior stakeholders. You're comfortable in the room, confident presenting, and know how to keep clients excited about the work in progress
  • Drive alignment across clients, internal teams, and external partners
  • Facilitate reviews across creative, strategy, technology, and leadership
  • Own project scope, SOWs, budgets, and profitability
  • Identify opportunities to grow client partnerships and expand the impact of the work
  • Stay ahead of what's changing in technology, emerging channels, and AI-enabled workflows
  • Mentor producers and team members, share what you know, and always look for better ways to do the work - not just on your projects, but across the whole team

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • 6+ years of experience leading integrated projects across digital, social, video, content, and campaign initiatives
  • A bias toward action
  • A genuine love of content, storytelling, and creative ideas
  • A background in production, line production, account management, or program management
  • A track record of real client relationships, not just client adjacency
  • Fluency in budget management and SOW creation
  • Ability to run a clean P&L and hold a scope conversation with confidence
  • Experience sourcing and managing vendors and freelancers
  • The ability to move fast without breaking things and to keep momentum going while staying organized and accountable
  • Humility and a collaborative spirit
