Responsibilities:

In this Full-Time position, candidates will be responsible for assisting the Ameresco Engineering team on the development and/or execution of energy efficiency projects.

Provide all necessary support, reports, and documentation required by Management for project, including technical and other support to sales, engineering and operating functions as needed.


Help the team analyze utility data, audit facilities, complete energy efficiency calculations, compile a collection of creative ECMs, and help sell or implement projects. This may include assisting our controls team with the execution of controls installs thereby providing real-world experience with controls engineering and installation.

Candidates will be working out of our office in Worthington, Ohio. All candidates must be capable of coming into the office on a regular as needed basis, and must be capable of driving themselves to client sites within 1-2 hours of Columbus Ohio as needed.

Details of the position:

Act as an Energy Engineer Co-Op and help in every aspect of all different types of energy projects, including:

Utility Analytics- Assist with the input and analysis of historical utility bill information including but not limited to regression analysis, benchmarking, and calculating incremental utility rates by analyzing utility tariffs/riders.

Implementation - Assist the lead Energy Engineers and Project Developers with identifying and implementing cost effective Energy Efficiency projects that pay for themselves through savings (e.g. Lighting, HVAC, Controls, VFD's, etc.)

Recovery Services - Help our clients recoup investments on past, current, and future Energy Efficiency projects (e.g. Utility Programs, PJM, EPACT, Federal, State, Local Grants, etc.)

On-Site Generation - Help our clients design, own, and operate on-site generation systems (e.g. Cogeneration, CHP, WER, Solar, Wind, etc.)

Energy Efficiency Consulting - Help our clients' problem solve complex Energy Efficiency problems (e.g. Audits, Assessments, Measurement & Verification, Training, etc.)


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working toward a B.S. or M.S. in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Energy Engineering. M.S. in Renewable Energy Engineering a plus.
  • Candidates working towards B.S., M.S., or PhD in Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Computer Engineering will also be considered.
  • Experience working in the Energy field: particularly with lighting, HVAC, controls, building envelope, etc.


Additional Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to gather, input, validate, and analyze quantitative data and information.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal, written, computer, technical communication and presentation skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and business relationships.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $21.00 -$23.00 (presented in good faith). In addition to base pay, employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, and may be eligible for performance incentives, bonuses, commissions, or equity, depending on the role.

Actual pay will depend on factors such as internal equity, skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. This range supports our commitment to pay transparency and compliance with applicable laws. Compensation may vary by work location, including remote arrangements.
