Join Allstate's Client Legal Services team as a Legal Administrative Assistant supporting insurance defense and bodily injury litigation in Maryland. This role plays a critical part in the success of the legal team by coordinating court filings, managing attorney calendars, maintaining case documentation, and facilitating communication with courts, medical providers, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal and administrative support to Client Legal Services Attorneys, with a focus on insurance defense litigation and bodily injury matters.
- Open and maintain new lawsuits, ensuring accurate setup and ongoing management within case management systems.
- Coordinate and manage attorney calendars, including court dates, deadlines, depositions, hearings, mediations, and case management orders.
- Prepare, draft, file, and serve pleadings and legal documents in both paper and electronic formats, including e-filing through Maryland court filing systems.
- Process and manage high volumes of electronic correspondence related to pleadings, filings, court communications, and case activity.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for courts, opposing counsel, medical providers, vendors, and internal stakeholders, maintaining professional and timely communication.
- Manage document organization, indexing, version control, and maintenance of case files to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficient retrieval of information.
- Draft routine correspondence and other litigation-related documents for attorney review and approval.
- Monitor deadlines, procedural rules, court requirements, and medical record requests to ensure timely and compliant case management.
- Demonstrate initiative by anticipating attorney and case needs, taking ownership of assigned work, and collaborating effectively with team members.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong typing speed with a high level of accuracy
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and follow-up skills with the ability to manage strict deadlines
- Ability to take initiative while working under attorney direction and established procedures
- Experience supporting multiple attorneys simultaneously in a litigation-focused environment
- Demonstrated experience with heavy scheduling, calendar management, and coordination of court-related activities
- Insurance defense, bodily injury, personal injury, or legal administrative experience preferred
- Familiarity with Maryland litigation practices and electronic court filing systems is strongly preferred
- Experience preparing correspondence, managing high-volume email communications, and coordinating litigation-related activities
- Knowledge of medical terminology and experience working with medical records is preferred
