Job description

About Panorama:
Panorama Education is a technology company building the leading platform for student insight and action in K-12. We help modern school systems understand what students need and take effective action. By bringing together academics, attendance, behavior, and engagement data with AI, we give educators the full picture of every student and the intelligence to decide what to do next. As a mission-driven company supporting 15 million students in 2,000 districts nationwide, the work we do has a direct line to student outcomes every day. Join us and help shape what education looks like for the next generation.
About the role:
As a Lead Product Designer at Panorama, you'll tackle some of the most complex and ambiguous design challenges in K-12 education, turning complexity into elegant, scalable solutions that empower educators and improve their experience with our platform.
This is a high-autonomy role for a designer who thinks strategically, executes with craft, and knows how to move work forward in a collaborative, cross-functional environment. You'll collaborate closely with Product and Engineering peers, contribute to our design system, and help shape how AI is integrated into educator experiences, at a company actively investing in all of the above.
You'll report to the Senior Director of Product Design and work fully remotely on a distributed team.
Requirements
What you'll do:
  • Shape and evolve core product experiences: Lead design efforts across new and existing product areas, creating experiences for educators and students that connect them with Panorama's data and insights and deliver immediate, meaningful value.
  • Design AI-powered and AI-assisted experiences: Define AI-native features and design systems for human-agent collaboration, focusing on interaction models, workflows, and user experiences.
  • Contribute to and evolve the design system: Define new components, design tokens, interaction patterns, and documentation; build production-ready accessible components with engineering; drive adoption and patterns for AI-native interactions across multiple products.
  • Raise the bar on craft for the team: Lead by example through strong visual design, interaction design, and prototyping. Give thoughtful feedback, mentor designers, and help build a culture of high standards and continuous learning.
  • Champion accessibility and inclusive design: Build WCAG 2.2 AA compliance into your process from the start. For Panorama, accessibility isn't a checklist, it's a reflection of our commitment to equitable tools for every educator.
  • Lead discovery and research: Partner with Product to run user interviews, usability tests, and synthesis sessions, keeping educator and student needs at the center of product decisions.
  • Communicate with clarity and conviction: Present design strategy and rationale to cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership, articulating trade-offs and advocating for design decisions with evidence.

What we're looking for:
  • 7+ years of Product Design experience, ideally in a B2B SaaS environment. K-12 edtech experience is a plus
  • A portfolio demonstrating strong design craft, end-to-end product thinking, and systems-level reasoning
  • Hands-on AI design experience: you've shipped AI-powered or AI-assisted features, see AI as a partner in creativity and efficiency, and have an evolving point of view on design's role in AI, automation, and emerging technologies
  • Data visualization expertise: you turn complex, multi-layered data into clear, actionable insight for users across varying levels of data literacy
  • Accessibility expertise: working knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, built into your process from the start
  • A natural mentor who raises the bar through feedback, knowledge sharing, and ongoing experimentation
  • A genuine belief that well-designed tools can advance equity and improve outcomes for students

About the Design Team
Great design is central to Panorama Education's product and mission. We want our product to both delight teachers and educators across the country and to help them drive action to improve outcomes for their students. At Panorama, you will be working side-by-side with folks from many backgrounds and experiences: engineers, former teachers, product managers, education researchers, client account managers, and more. We believe diversity of experiences lead to better product design and outcomes for the students we serve.
Benefits
Base Salary: The base salary range for this position is $152,200 - $202,900 USD // Annually.
Our salary is just one component of Panorama's competitive total rewards strategy that also includes annual bonuses or commission awards, equity awards, as well as other region-specific health and welfare benefits.

  • Health, dental, vision, life insurance, and short-term and long-term disability coverage.
  • Flexible spending account for health care and dependent care
  • Wellness Reimbursement
  • Work from Home Reimbursement
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Parental leave program
