Job description

Everforth ECS is seeking an Automation Development Engineer to join our team in Sierra Vista, AZ OR Remote.
Everforth ECS is seeking a Automation Development Engineer who can bridge the gap between "scripting for today" and "architecting for tomorrow." Our program has expanded its custom code repository and applications, and we need a seasoned professional to bring structure to our diverse verticals.
Responsibilities will include designing and implementing a standardized CI/CD pipeline and formalizing our existing development infrastructure. Within our program, much of our current automation is maintained by various personnel. We look for a candidate to serve as the "center of excellence"-standardizing tools, mentoring others, and ensuring our growth is scalable. As a team member, will transition from designing and implementing a DevOps practice and tooling to migrating our existing automation, applications, and processes to the new DevOps practice and tools.
The candidate will be challenged with taking multiple internal verticals in various states of DevSecOps development into a single unified architecture that is known throughout the program. This isn't a role where you simply follow a manual. You are being hired to write the manual. You will have the authority to shape how our program handles code and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
  • Infrastructure Formalization & Standards:
    • Audit and unify disparate, loosely-structured scripts and environments into a cohesive, production-grade infrastructure.
    • Establish "best practice" patterns for internal personnel who script/program, acting as the technical lead for automation standards.
  • Configuration as Code:
    • Develop, document, and maintain custom Ansible collections to standardize configuration management across the enterprise.
    • Transition ad-hoc scripts into reusable, modular, and version-controlled automation.
  • Pipeline & CI/CD Development:
    • Design and deploy a formal DevOps pipeline to support a multi-language environment (Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, Bash, etc.).
    • Implement automated testing and validation gates to ensure code quality from non-professional coders.
  • Application Development & Orchestration:
    • Build and maintain scalable applications in customer supported languages based on requirements of selected solution decomposition.
    • Manage and optimize complex workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow.

Salary Range: $170,000 - $200,000
  • Minimum Secret Clearance or ability to obtain Secret Clearance
  • Advanced Ansible Expertise: Deep experience writing custom Ansible collections, including modules, plugins, and roles, rather than just basic playbooks.
  • Architectural Vision: Proven track record of formalizing "organic" or "messy" environments into structured, manageable configuration as code.
  • Polyglot Development: Strong professional experience in Python and JavaScript .
  • Operating System Scripting: Strong professional experience in Bash/Shell and PowerShell scripting.
  • Workflow Automation: Experience designing and debugging Apache Airflow DAGs.
  • DevOps Tools: Mastery of CI/CD platforms (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes ), and security (SAST/DAST scanning, Bearer, Trivy, etc) that is nested in ARCYBER's Continuous DevSecOps (CDSO) policies.
  • Soft Skills & Mentorship: Ability to guide and mentor staff who understand programming logic but lack formal software engineering discipline.
