Summary
This position is located in the Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) Fleet Readiness (N94) Regional Marketing Department. Working under the general supervision of the Supervisory Advertising & Marketing Specialist, incumbent designs advertising creatives for a fast-paced, comprehensive graphics program that produces print and digital materials required to promote facilities, programs and events.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designs and produces finished graphic products to promote all aspects of FFR operations, activities, events, and facilities from verbal or written communications, or sketches.
- Develops and implements creative designs for production using PC platforms, and the most current version of graphic arts software (Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and hardware (scanners, large and small format printers, and networking systems and server). Employs state-of-the-art graphic and photo manipulation programs.
- Communicates regularly with subject-matter experts to create conceptual products and ensures that draft work receives the requestor's approval, deadlines are met, and the organization's goals are accomplished. A basic understanding of the FFR organization's mission and the purpose of various program activities is necessary, which may require occasional visits to region/field locations and attendance at events/meetings.
- Designs and prepares a wide variety of general and technical illustrations, photos and/or vector graphics by all methods, using multi-media and the latest graphic arts software. Responsible for print pre-production.
- Determines and communicates technical requirements and deadlines, and serves as a customer service liaison throughout the life of assigned projects.
- Ensures all administrative tasks are completed, including job tracking, recording billable hours (as required), equipment maintenance, software updates, etc.
- Ensures 90% of projects are completed within the specified deadline. Manages projects and workload to ensure all projects are completed in a timely fashion. Coordinates with press operator, webmaster and others within the department to complete tasks.
- Follows departmental standard operating instructions and customer service standards. Effectively responds to customers' concerns and/or complaints. Complaints not resolved by incumbent will be referred to immediate supervisor. Exercises tact, diplomacy and courtesy when serving and assisting customers. This will be expressed by tactfully responding and assisting customers in a prompt and friendly manner.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess:
- Knowledge of graphic design principles, visual methods, and materials, including a wide range of communication and illustration concepts, principles and practices needed to plan, design, and produce a variety of complex visual requirements.
- Ability to use sophisticated, state-of-the-art graphic and multimedia design technology (equipment and software) to produce the highest quality print, website animations and multimedia products, and meet production requirements.
- Knowledge of complex design software including Adobe Creative Suite (In-Design, Illustrator, Photo shop).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Knowledge of grammar, spelling, standard graphics style.
- Ability to conceptualize and recommend advertising methods from written and verbal instructions.
- Basic understanding of math, accounting and routine office procedures.
- Proven ability to work in high volume graphics operations to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effective in working as team member with flexibility to work in different positions within the department.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Education
A bachelor's degree from an accredited university in graphic art
OR other related field is preferred,
May be substituted by the equivalent
combination of directly related
education, training AND three years recent experience that demonstrates skill in computer graphic applications.
