Job description

Pay rate: $30.00 per hour.

Location: Remote! Supporting the VA Medical Center in Iowa.

Hours: 40 hours per week!

Responsibilities:

  • Shall review health care provider medical record coding for completeness and accuracy, clarify and correct provider coding as necessary.
  • Shall query providers via encrypted Outlook email using the Provider Query Foundation OneNote which is where staff can find language examples that can assist in constructing compliant queries and/or coding clarification to ensure accurate coding reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • A certified Coder shall have at least one of the following credentials from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA): Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS or CCS-P), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
  • Must have knowledge of relevant VA software, including Oracle Cerner applications, 3M/Solventum application, and International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) for both Diagnosis coding and Facility Procedure Coding System (PCS), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), Evaluation and Management (E/M) Level Coding, Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS).
  • All coders are required to have a minimum of three years of continuous coding experience
