Remote Landscape Engineer information

What is a remote landscape engineer?

Remote landscape engineers are professionals who design, plan, and oversee the development of outdoor spaces such as parks, gardens, and recreational areas while working from a remote location. They use digital tools and software to create landscape plans, manage projects, and collaborate with clients and teams online. Their work often involves site analysis, environmental planning, and ensuring sustainable design, all accomplished through virtual communication and remote project management.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote landscape engineer?

To thrive as a Remote Landscape Engineer, you need a solid background in landscape architecture or civil engineering, often supported by a relevant degree and licensure. Familiarity with design software like AutoCAD, GIS systems, and remote collaboration tools is typically required. Strong communication, project management, and problem-solving abilities are essential soft skills for coordinating with clients and multidisciplinary teams from a distance. These skills and tools ensure the effective design and execution of landscape projects while maintaining productivity and collaboration in a remote work environment.

How does a remote landscape engineer effectively collaborate with on-site teams and clients?

As a Remote Landscape Engineer, collaboration is primarily facilitated through digital communication platforms, such as video calls, cloud-based project management tools, and shared design software. Regular virtual meetings with on-site teams and clients help ensure that project requirements and site-specific challenges are clearly understood. It's important to establish strong communication routines and leverage technology for sharing plans, conducting site assessments, and providing timely feedback. Building trust and maintaining transparency are key to successful remote teamwork in this role.

Job description

About NANO Nuclear Energy

NANO Nuclear Energy is an advanced nuclear technology company developing next-generation microreactor systems that will help transform the future of clean, reliable, and resilient energy. Through the development of its KRONOS MMR Energy System, LOKI MMR Energy System, and ZEUS Solid Core Battery Reactor-advanced high-temperature gas-cooled reactor (HTGR) technologies designed for applications including data centers, industrial operations, remote communities, and critical infrastructure-the company is advancing innovative nuclear solutions for a rapidly evolving energy landscape. NANO Nuclear has also submitted a Construction Permit Application (CPA) to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to support the planned deployment of the KRONOS MMR at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), representing a significant milestone toward the commercialization of advanced nuclear technology.

Joining NANO Nuclear means contributing to pioneering technologies with the potential to redefine the nuclear industry while working alongside experts in engineering, science, and innovation. Our team operates in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment where employees are encouraged to solve challenging technical problems and advance the materials technologies needed for next-generation energy systems.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will work on reactor electrical system design, compliance, and integration with a focus on safety and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems supporting nuclear reactor operations, including power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure all electrical systems meet regulatory codes, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Support system integration efforts across multiple disciplines, collaborating with mechanical, control, and nuclear engineers.
  • Participate in safety assessments, risk analyses, and failure mode evaluations related to electrical components.
  • Provide technical expertise during procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Assist in the development of maintenance and inspection procedures for electrical systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 7+ years (or M.Sc. and 5+ years) of experience in electrical system design, preferably in the nuclear, energy, or aerospace industries
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes (e.g., IEEE, NEC) and standards
  • Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP
  • Familiarity with control systems, instrumentation, and system integration
  • Experience with project and contract management preferred
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or working toward licensure is a plus

What We Offer

  • A collaborative engineering culture focused on innovation and technical excellence.
  • Opportunities for mentorship, professional growth, and technical leadership.
  • The opportunity to contribute to a cleaner, more reliable energy future.
  • Competitive medical, dental, vision and life insurance with generous company contributions.
  • Company 401(k) plan with 5% match.
  • Unlimited PTO policy with company holidays and paid parental leave.
