Job description

US Heart and Vascular is in need of a Full-time Medical Assistant Float to join our HeartPlace team in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area.
Responsibilities:
  • Takes patient vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, weight, etc.)
  • Verifies and inputs patient medications into EMR. Making changes and additions as needed to the medication list.
  • Responsible for EKG, rhythm strip, and signal average EKG hook-ups and printouts (Proficiency Required)
  • Assists physicians with patient exams as needed.
  • Responsible for Holter monitor hook-ups and removals, event recorders and Loop recorders. (Proficiency Required)
  • Ability to perform stress tests as needed and to assist in test interpretation.
  • Takes pharmacy phone calls, reviews charts, and calls in prescription refills.
  • Monitors pharmacy samples, removing from stock as expired.
  • Receives and returns phone calls from patients and other external sources. Receives and returns portal messages in the EMR.
  • Pulls patient charts when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • May also be responsible for insurance precertification, prior authorization, procedure/surgery scheduling and coordinating transfers and admissions.
  • May be required to move between locations as needed.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or Texas accredited GED
  • 1 year of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • EKG Experience required.
  • Cardiology practice experience preferred but not required.
  • Fluently speaks, reads, and writes English.
