Remote Ktor Jobs (NOW HIRING)

Remote Ktor information

What is a Remote Ktor developer?

A Remote Ktor developer is a software engineer who specializes in building server-side applications using the Ktor framework, a lightweight and asynchronous web framework for Kotlin. These developers work remotely, collaborating with teams or clients to design, develop, and maintain APIs, web applications, or microservices. Their responsibilities typically include writing clean and efficient code, integrating third-party services, and ensuring the security and scalability of applications built with Ktor.

Is Kotlin a good career?

Kotlin is a popular programming language for Android development and backend services, making it a valuable skill for roles such as Remote Ktor developers. Its interoperability with Java and growing adoption in the industry contribute to strong job prospects and demand for Kotlin expertise. Learning Kotlin can enhance career opportunities in mobile and server-side development environments.

What's the best site for finding remote jobs?

For remote Ktor developer roles, popular job sites like Indeed, LinkedIn, and specialized remote work platforms such as We Work Remotely and Remote.co are widely used. These sites often feature filters for remote positions and include listings from companies seeking skills in Kotlin, server-side development, and cloud environments.

What jobs can I do remotely online?

Remote Ktor developers can work online in roles such as software engineers, web developers, or backend developers, often focusing on Kotlin-based server-side applications. These jobs typically require knowledge of programming, APIs, and cloud services, and can be performed on flexible schedules from various locations.

What are some common challenges faced by a Remote Ktor developer, and how can they be addressed?

As a Remote Ktor developer, you may encounter challenges such as collaborating effectively with a distributed team, managing time zone differences, and ensuring consistent code quality across projects. To address these, it's important to establish clear communication channels (such as Slack or daily stand-ups), follow standardized coding practices, and leverage tools like code reviews and version control systems. Additionally, staying proactive about documentation and regularly syncing with teammates can help maintain project alignment and resolve issues quickly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Ktor Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Ktor Developer, you need solid experience in Kotlin programming, RESTful API design, and backend development principles, typically with a background in computer science or related fields. Familiarity with Ktor framework, version control systems like Git, and continuous integration tools is essential. Strong problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and effective remote communication skills set top candidates apart. These skills ensure efficient delivery of scalable backend solutions while maintaining collaboration and productivity in a remote work environment.

What remote jobs are in high demand right now?

Remote software development roles, including positions like Remote Ktor developers, are in high demand due to the growth of digital services and cloud-based applications. Skills in programming languages such as Kotlin, experience with cloud platforms, and the ability to work independently are often required for these roles.

What is the difference between Remote Ktor vs Remote Kotlin Developer?

AspectRemote KtorRemote Kotlin Developer
Required CredentialsProficiency in Ktor framework, Kotlin programming, REST API developmentProficiency in Kotlin, general software development skills, possibly some framework knowledge
Work EnvironmentRemote, often in backend or server-side development teamsRemote, can include mobile, backend, or full-stack roles
Industry UsagePrimarily in backend API development, microservicesBroader, including mobile app development, backend, and full-stack projects

Remote Ktor specialists focus specifically on building backend APIs using the Ktor framework in Kotlin, often in microservices environments. Remote Kotlin Developers have a broader skill set, working on various projects including mobile apps and backend systems. Job description

At JetBrains, code is our passion. Ever since we started, back in 2000, we have strived to make the strongest, most effective developer tools on earth. By automating routine checks and corrections, our tools speed up production, freeing developers to grow, discover, and create.

We're now looking for a Customer Success Engineer (CSE) to help engineering teams successfully adopt Kotlin on the backend in real-world production environments.

Currently, this role is focused on adoption - helping Java teams introduce Kotlin into existing applications. You'll work directly with organizations to guide migration, integration, troubleshooting, and scaling, ensuring they move from initial experiments to successful production use.

In addition, you'll proactively communicate with prospective users to help them understand the Kotlin adoption process, as well as design and implement the migration path.

Responsibilities
  • Track and maintain visibility into organizations and their stage of Kotlin adoption (e.g., not started, evaluating, experimenting, production)
  • Proactively engage with organizations across different phases of their Kotlin adoption journey
  • Develop and recommend high-level adoption strategies tailored to each organization's context
  • Identify and document blockers that hinder progress and propose ways to address them
  • Establish and manage feedback loops with development teams to ensure continuous alignment and improvement
We will be happy to have you on our team if you have:

Technical expertise

  • Extensive hands-on experience with Kotlin, Java, and the JVM ecosystem
  • Proven experience migrating Java backend codebases to Kotlin
  • Experience with the Spring (Boot) ecosystem or similar frameworks (e.g., Quarkus, Micronaut, Ktor)
  • Solid understanding of build tools and project structuring, including Maven and Gradle

Communication and customer engagement

  • Experience in customer-facing technical roles such as Solutions Engineering, Developer Advocacy, or Technical Consulting
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Ability to lead workshops, demos, talks, meetups, and other public-facing activities
  • Comfort with outbound engagement, including identifying target companies, articulating value propositions, and building relationships with engineering teams
  • Ability to effectively communicate with engineers, tech leads, and business stakeholders

System design and architecture

  • Ability to design and guide Kotlin adoption strategies for backend applications
  • Experience designing backend systems using common architectural patterns (e.g., monolith, modulith, microservices)
