AMSG is seeking a Sr Writer to support the Army's MEDCOM and provide communications support services through the development of precision program support for Army Medicine Outreach.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education & Years of Experience: At a minimum, a bachelor's degree in journalism or communications with eight years of writing/authorship experience.
  • Must be able to write command-level speeches and articles.
  • Ability to author content that will include feature writing, minimal copywriting, news releases, and briefings.
  • Must be knowledgeable of applicable industry and government standards of writing - primarily the AP style writing guide, and Army Regulation 360-1.
  • Citizenship: US
  • Location: Defense Health Headquarters, 7700 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church VA 22042. Due to the operational requirements of this role, physical presence is mandatory. This position is strictly onsite and does not qualify for remote or hybrid work arrangements.
  • Start Date: 1 October 2026

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops and drafts tailored outreach campaigns, strategic communications strategies, and tactical execution plans for high-visibility events for government approval.
  • Interview subjects on diverse topics relevant to MEDCOM to author cohesive, multi-platform content-including executive speechwriting, feature stories, public information, briefings, and social media-tailored to specific stakeholder categories while ensuring strict alignment with the organizational communication strategy.
  • Evaluate campaign performance to provide actionable recommendations for improving stakeholder collaboration and deliver a Monthly Status Report to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) that encompasses comprehensive operational tracking, metrics, and reporting data.
