Description

SAIC is looking for a Lead ServiceNow Developer to join our team in Washington, DC.  The Lead ServiceNow Developer's primary responsibilities include providing the design and delivery of technical solutions and custom application development within the ServiceNow environment. Candidate must have a strong understanding and experience of software engineering and the ServiceNow platform. This individual needs to have a solution-driven mindset to best work through the deliverables around the needs of the organization. Excellent communication and documentation skills are extremely important for this individual to be successful!

This role requires on-site work in Washington, D.C. 3 days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strong technical lead for the ServiceNow platform, providing technical direction, development standards, and best practices across all ServiceNow applications.
  • Lead design, development, configuration, testing, deployment, and support of new ServiceNow applications, modules, workflows, integrations, and catalog items.
  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions aligned with organizational strategy.
  • Establish and enforce ServiceNow development standards, coding guidelines, governance processes, and platform best practices.
  • Lead technical design reviews and code reviews to ensure quality, maintainability, performance, and security of platform solutions.
  • Mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to ServiceNow Developers and Administrators while fostering knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Architect and develop enterprise integrations using REST, IntegrationHub, MID Servers, LDAP, Single Sign-On (SSO), web services, and other enterprise technologies.
  • Design and implement complex automation solutions using Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, Workflow, Script Includes, Business Rules, APIs, Scheduled Jobs, and Event Management.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architects, Business Analysts, Product Owners, and IT leadership to develop platform roadmaps and long-term technical strategies.
  • Lead technical planning for platform upgrades, new ServiceNow releases, and adoption of emerging platform capabilities.
  • Evaluate and recommend new ServiceNow products, modules, and platform features that improve operational efficiency and business value.
  • Oversee platform performance, scalability, reliability, and security while ensuring adherence to organizational architecture and governance standards.
  • Design and maintain Service Catalog offerings, Knowledge Management solutions, and self-service capabilities.
  • Ensure CMDB integrity by supporting Configuration Management, Common Service Data Model (CSDM), Discovery, and Service Mapping initiatives.
  • Design and implement role-based security, ACLs, application scopes, and data protection strategies.
  • Partner with IT Service Management teams to continuously improve Incident, Problem, Change, Request, Knowledge, Asset, CMDB, and related business processes.
  • Participate in strategic planning, resource estimation, project planning, and technical risk assessments.
  • Drive continuous platform improvement by identifying technical debt, optimization opportunities, and modernization initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership during platform upgrades, major releases, and enterprise-wide implementation projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and ten (10) years of related experience, Master's degree and eight (8) years of related experience, (4 years experience in lieu of degree)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust requiring U.S. Citizenship or Green Card.
  • 8+ years of ServiceNow development experience supporting enterprise-level implementations.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a technical lead on large ServiceNow implementations or enterprise platform initiatives.
  • Extensive experience designing scalable ServiceNow solutions across multiple applications and business units.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA).
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD).
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (one or more).
  • ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or working toward certification.
  • ITIL Foundation v4 certification.
  • Experience with AI-powered capabilities including Now Assist, Virtual Agent, Predictive Intelligence, and Generative AI.
  • Experience leading enterprise platform modernization or digital transformation initiatives.

Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
