Key Responsibilities

In your role as an LPC, you will:

  • Collaborate closely with the Medical Director and Medical Team Administrator to integrate mental health treatment seamlessly within our facility and coordinate with external providers when necessary.
  • Offer mental health training and in-service education to medical, psychiatric, and security teams to enhance our collective understanding of patient needs.
  • Intervene in and effectively manage mental health emergencies, utilizing de-escalation techniques to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Attend commitment hearings as required, contributing to legal processes with professionalism and adherence to guidelines.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals for each patient, ensuring their unique needs are met and addressed.
  • Document all patient interactions meticulously, maintaining accurate records to track progress and inform future treatment approaches.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality regarding patient medical records and histories, respecting their privacy while providing quality care.
  • Verify relevant mental health histories, including previous psychotropic medications, to inform treatment strategies.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports and special documentation as needed, contributing to organizational oversight and accountability.
  • Coordinate post-release referrals with nursing and mental health staff to facilitate continuous care for patients after discharge.
