Michael Hill Trial Law is the gold standard in nursing home abuse and neglect litigation. We represent seniors and families in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases arising from the negligence of nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and group homes. We have recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for our clients — including a $26 million jury verdict — across more than 1,000 cases, and we are growing quickly, with an increasingly strong presence on the West Coast.

We are looking for an experienced trial attorney to step in, take ownership of cases under the firm's direction, and execute at a high level. You already know how to practice law. We'll teach you our systems — we won't teach you how to take a deposition or try a case.

This is a real trial role for a real trial lawyer. If your “litigation” experience has mostly meant drafting motions and doing office-based paperwork with only a handful of depositions, this is not the right fit. If you've taken and defended dozens of depositions and tried cases to verdict, keep reading.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a trial attorney, you lead a team of paralegals and support staff and own your files from inception through resolution — focusing on the work that requires a law license and delegating the rest.

• Take and defend depositions, and prepare clients, witnesses, and experts for deposition, arbitration, and trial
• Make the strategic decisions that drive case outcomes
• Try cases to verdict — you'll be in trial on at least two cases each year
• Negotiate and settle cases, value claims, and attend mediations
• Review and authorize motions, pleadings, and discovery responses before filing
• Select and manage experts, holding them to deadlines and quality standards
• Set and manage case budgets and keep your team on track and on target

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Active license to practice law in Ohio (required), and a willingness to become licensed in additional states as our caseload grows
• At least 5 years of personal injury litigation experience with extensive, hands-on deposition and trial experience — OR an experienced criminal trial attorney with a substantial record of jury trials and complex, high-stakes litigation
• A track record of first-chair or lead-role work — you've carried cases, not just supported them
• The judgment and drive to step in and execute under the firm's direction with minimal ramp-up on the law
• Comfort leading a team and managing files, deadlines, experts, and budgets
• Willingness to travel for trials, mediations, depositions, and in-person meetings as needed

We handle cases in Ohio, California, New York, Arizona, Washington, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Wyoming, and Vermont, and our footprint is expanding. This first opening is for an Ohio-licensed attorney.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Base salary of $125,000–$200,000, commensurate with experience
• Profit sharing and performance-based bonuses — meaningful, uncapped upside tied to the results you drive
