Position Summary:

As a Junior Software Developer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing secure, end-to-end cluster and application lifecycles in cloud environments. You will collaborate with clients and internal teams to design and implement containerization solutions using Docker (Podman). A key aspect of your role will involve converting legacy applications to containerized environments, writing new application code to handle containerization edge cases, developing ETL processes for automated workflows involving customer data, and keeping containers CVE-free through scans and mitigations. Additionally, you will apply DevSecOps principles in your software development role to enhance software delivery automation, ensuring that systems are both efficient and secure. Your work will support the organization's goals of enhancing security, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work across multiple technology stacks, gaining hands-on experience with various languages, frameworks, and tools to support a broad range of applications.
  • Work in languages such as Python, Java, C++, JavaScript, and GoLang, among other languages to deliver industry standard application functionality.
  • Work with database technologies such as PostgreSQL, Mongo DB, Oracle, MySQL, and others.
  • Building or consuming REST APIs and working with backend services or microservice architectures.
  • Design, develop, and implement secure, end-to-end Kubernetes or Docker-based cluster and application lifecycles.
  • Participate in software development using CI/CD pipelines, with a focus on security and automation.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to architect containerized solutions and cloud-native applications.
  • Apply GitOps principles for automated and reliable deployment processes.
  • Implement DevSecOps best practices, ensuring security is integrated at every stage of the development lifecycle.
  • Ensure effective log management and use analytics tools for system monitoring and optimization.
  • Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) to automate security checks, deployment processes, and routine DevOps task
  • Leverage AWS cloud services and other cloud platforms to ensure system reliability, scalability, and security.
  • Contribute to the development of secure network configurations and cloud-based security architecture.
  • Maintain strong familiarity with Agile, DevOps, and DevSecOps methodologies to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Assist in implementing Service Mesh solutions (e.g., Istio) to support secure and efficient service-to-service communications.
  • Collaborate with teams using version control systems like GitLab, and work with automation tools like Ansible, Maven, and Gradle.
  • Stay current with cloud technologies, industry best practices, and evolving security threats to recommend innovative solutions.
  • Maintain infrastructure using IaC/CaC

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance
  • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 2 years of progressive related experience
  • Advanced experience containerizing applications to be run through a web interface
  • Advanced experience with Kubernetes or Docker
  • Develop and implement end-to-end cluster and application lifecycles
  • Experience working with Agile, Agile XP, DevOps, and DevSecOps methodologies
  • Experience with C++, Java, Python, and Go
  • Experience building or consuming REST APIs and working with backend services or microservice architectures.
  • Experience with databases (SQL or NoSQL) and handling structured data (e.g., JSON, CSV)
  • Familiarity with logging, telemetry, or data collection pipelines for monitoring system usage and performance
  • Experience or exposure to data visualization tools (e.g., Grafana, dashboards, or reporting systems)
  • Experience working with version control systems like GitHub and Gitlab
  • Experience in software systems development using CI/CD pipelines, GitHub, Gitlab CI and ArgoCD
  • Experience with Log Management and Analytics tools like Vector, Loki, and Grafana
  • Proficient in tools like AWS Cloud Services, Gitlab, Ansible, Maven, Gradle
  • Experience with Unit/Integration Testing
  • Experience with Unit Testing tools Jest, Cypress or Playwright
  • Experience with Test Driven Development
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and Platform as a Service models

  • Experience with writing custom Helm Charts
  • Experience with Big Data

  • Active Top Secret with SCI eligibility

Compensation for this role is $95,000-$105,000.

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's work location, knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience, clearance level, contract affordability and in consideration of internal parity.
