Job description

We are looking for a strong structural steel sales representative to join our team. The position is a remote opportunity based in the Texas or Western region.
This is a fully remote position; however, candidates must reside and be authorized to work in the United States. Please note, CSC is not able to support remote work from locations outside the U.S. or mobile or RV-based arrangements. Employees are required to work from a fixed, primary residence within the United States.
JOB SUMMARY:
Develop and manage CSC customer accounts by creating strong relationships and providing a high level of customer service that is consistent with our corporate mission, values and departmental objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Develop strong relationships with customers at assigned accounts via in person visits and frequent communication.
  • Prepare cost estimates and negotiate projects to meet departmental objectives
  • Review contract documents to determine material and labor requirements and prepare takeoff for pricing
  • Input takeoff into CSC Design and Pricing software to determine accurate project costing
  • Generate a scope of work along with all exclusions, clarifications, and conditions listing all bid documents utilized in preparation of estimate
  • Collaborate with Sales Engineers to present value engineering opportunities to offer savings for both the customer and CSC
  • Maintain a sales funnel with projects that have a likelihood of being awarded to CSC
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure that client expectations are met and exceeded.
  • Monitor activities and pricing levels of competitors by soliciting feedback from customers
  • Work closely with internal teams including project managers, estimators, and engineers to ensure the successful execution of contracts
  • Provide feedback and insights on customer preferences, competitors, and market conditions to help refine service offerings and sales approaches.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by supervisor

LEVEL I REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or construction management preferred
  • Ability to learn basic building and design concepts relevant to the joist & deck industry
  • Familiarity with reading, analyzing, and interpreting drawings, specifications, and technical procedures
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and organize workflow
  • Excellent math and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • PC skills to include the following software: Microsoft Suite of Products, Bluebeam, CSC Design and Pricing programs
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time

LEVEL II REQUIREMENTS:
  • Level I requirements plus
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or construction management preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of selling experience ideally related to steel or building products
  • Proficiency in handling negotiations with basic accounts with minimal intervention from management
  • Working knowledge of basic building and design concepts relevant to the joist & deck industry
  • Possess mid-level technical knowledge of joist and deck or ability to obtain the knowledge quickly
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical procedures
  • Self-sufficient in doing basic takeoffs with minimal assistance

LEVEL III REQUIREMENTS:
  • Level I and II requirements plus
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or construction management preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of selling experience ideally related to steel or building products
  • Possess advanced technical knowledge of joist and deck or ability to obtain the knowledge quickly
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Frequent communication with others to exchange information.
  • Frequent repetition of motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Frequent moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Occasional adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions.
  • Constantly remaining in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for prolonged periods.
  • Constant use of computer for prolonged periods.
  • Constantly thinking and processing information.
  • Constantly maintaining concentration and focus on tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • General office environment.
  • May require occasional exposure to production area with airborne particles, loud noises, and extreme heat and cold.
  • Personal protection equipment is required when entering manufacturing plant.
