Our people thrive in an entrepreneurial and culturally-diverse environment, where innovative thinking, collaboration and efficient execution are highly valued. Our high-performance culture is what allows us to drive sustained growth. Stronger together, we promote an environment where individuals can thrive.
Senior Energy Consultant
Preferred locations: Central/Eastern Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh Region, or Greater Chicago Area
Help Organizations Navigate Complex Energy Decisions
World Fuel is seeking a relationship-focused Senior Energy Consultant to help commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, municipal, and nonprofit organizations make informed energy procurement decisions.
This is not a traditional sales role. You'll serve as a trusted advisor to your clients, helping them understand energy markets, evaluate procurement options, manage risk, and identify opportunities to reduce energy costs. You'll build long-term relationships while guiding customers through complex electricity and natural gas purchasing decisions.
Whether your background is in energy consulting, business development, account management, financial services, insurance brokerage, or another consultative sales environment, we're looking for professionals who enjoy building relationships, solving problems, and delivering value to clients.
You'll join one of the most established energy procurement and consulting teams in the PJM market, supporting customers throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, and surrounding deregulated energy markets.
What You'll Do
Build Trusted Client Relationships
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to commercial and industrial energy customers.
  • Develop long-term client relationships based on trust, responsiveness, and expertise.
  • Manage accounts throughout the customer lifecycle, including renewals, procurement planning, and ongoing energy strategy discussions.
  • Conduct regular business reviews and communicate market trends, pricing changes, and regulatory updates.

Advise Clients on Energy Procurement
  • Guide clients through electricity and natural gas purchasing decisions.
  • Evaluate supplier proposals and procurement options.
  • Lead competitive RFP processes and supplier negotiations.
  • Help customers understand market drivers, capacity charges, transmission costs, and pricing risk.
  • Support energy management, demand response, sustainability, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Partner with internal subject matter experts to deliver sophisticated market and risk management solutions.

Develop New Business Opportunities
  • Generate new opportunities through referrals, networking, chambers of commerce, trade associations, affinity partners, and existing client relationships.
  • Build relationships with business owners, CFOs, operations leaders, and other decision-makers.
  • Expand existing client relationships and identify additional opportunities to support their energy needs.
  • Present energy solutions and market insights to prospective clients.

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in consultative sales, account management, business development, financial services, insurance brokerage, energy consulting, client advisory services, or a related customer-facing profession.
  • Demonstrated success building and maintaining long-term client relationships.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in a way that is easily understood by business decision-makers.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Willingness to travel locally to meet clients and attend networking and industry events.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in energy consulting, energy procurement, energy brokerage, utility services, or deregulated energy markets.
  • Knowledge of PJM electricity markets.
  • Experience advising commercial or industrial customers.
  • Familiarity with electricity, natural gas, or energy risk management strategies.
  • Active involvement with chambers of commerce, trade associations, economic development groups, or professional networking organizations.
  • Existing relationships within Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, or other PJM markets.

We Also Welcome Candidates From
  • Financial Services
  • Insurance Brokerage
  • Commercial Banking
  • Mortgage Lending
  • Business Consulting
  • Economic Development
  • Professional Services
  • Customer Advisory and Account Management Roles

Travel Requirements
  • Remote position with local and regional travel.
  • Client meetings, networking events, industry conferences, and company meetings as needed.
  • Typical travel may range from 10% to 50% depending on territory and business activity.
  • Limited overnight travel.

Why Join World Fuel
  • Join one of the largest and most respected energy advisory organizations in the PJM market.
  • Receive warm referral opportunities through chambers, associations, and strategic partners.
  • Build expertise in energy procurement, power markets, sustainability, and risk management.
  • Work in a highly collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Partner with experienced energy professionals and subject matter experts.
  • Opportunity for professional advancement within a global energy organization.
  • Competitive compensation, incentive opportunities, and comprehensive benefits.

If you enjoy developing relationships, helping customers solve complex business challenges, and serving as a trusted advisor, we'd love to speak with you.
