To manage these challenges, it’s important to use secure collaboration tools, participate in regular virtual meetings, and follow strict protocols for remote access. Building strong relationships with colleagues and ongoing professional development also help maintain high security standards and seamless workflow.

What is remote IT security?

Remote IT security refers to the practice of protecting digital assets, systems, and data for organizations where employees, contractors, or users work from locations outside of centralized offices. This involves securing remote access to company networks, ensuring secure communication, managing endpoint security, and monitoring for cyber threats that target remote work environments. Remote IT security professionals implement and manage tools such as virtual private networks (VPNs), multi-factor authentication, endpoint protection, and cloud security solutions. Their goal is to mitigate risks associated with remote work, such as unsecured Wi-Fi, phishing attacks, and unauthorized access. These roles are critical as more organizations adopt flexible and remote work models.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote IT security professional?

To thrive as a Remote IT Security professional, you need strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, risk assessment, and network security, typically backed by a degree in computer science or a related field. • Design and maintain enterprise SCCM/MECM patching strategies for Windows endpoints and supported server environments.
  • Create and manage SCCM device collections, deployment groups, maintenance windows, software update groups, and deployment schedules.
  • Coordinate vulnerability information from Qualys with SCCM patching data to identify vulnerable systems requiring remediation.

Questions
  • Do you understand, and will abide by, the provision in your subcontract with OST that it is PROHIBITED for government equipment to be taken or used outside of the United States by your contractors? It will also result in immediate termination of the contractor and make them ineligible for rehire in the program.
  • Please note: The selected candidate(s) must accept the offered position within 48 hours of vendor notification. Failure to do so will result in DRC moving to their next candidate choice. Do you accept?
  • Once a candidate accepts an offered position, ALL DRC compliance items listed under the "Compliance" tab on the candidate record must be completed within 5 business days and uploaded into Vector. Failure to do so will result in DRC moving to their next candidate choice. Do you accept?
