Job description

This is a remote position.

Job Title: Sr. Automation Tester
Location: Remote
Duration: Full-Time
Clearance: Active IRS MBI Clearance Required

About the Role:
We’re looking for a Senior Automation Tester to join our team and support an IRS code modernization project. In this role, you’ll help make sure new code works exactly as expected — fast, secure, and reliable — by planning, building, and running tests.

You’ll work closely with developers and other team members to create test plans, write and run test scripts, track bugs, and make sure everything meets the project’s quality standards. You’ll also help improve how we test, making the process more efficient over time.

What You’ll Do:
Understand project requirements and turn them into clear test plans and test cases.
Set up test environments and run both manual and automated tests.
Log and track defects, and work with the team to get them fixed.
Perform regression and acceptance testing to ensure everything works as expected.
Support backend testing, including APIs and databases (SQL is a plus).
Work with automation tools like Selenium or Cypress.
Take part in the full software development lifecycle and CI/CD process.
Help improve testing processes and contribute to better software quality.

Bonus: experience with non-functional testing (Accessibility, Performance, Security) is a plus.

What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field preferred (more experience required if no degree).
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with both technical and non-technical people.
Good time management and teamwork skills.
Experience writing and executing test scripts.
Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks.
Familiarity with backend testing, CI/CD, and the overall software development lifecycle.
Experience with Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
