Remote Ip Core Network Engineer information

What is a remote IP core network engineer?

A Remote IP Core Network Engineer is a networking professional who designs, implements, manages, and troubleshoots the core network infrastructure of an organization, focusing on IP-based networking technologies. Working remotely, these engineers ensure seamless data transmission, high availability, and security within the core network, which is the backbone for all network services. Their responsibilities often include configuring routers and switches, monitoring network performance, optimizing traffic flows, and supporting the integration of new network solutions. They play a critical role in supporting enterprise connectivity, scalability, and network reliability.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote IP core network engineer?

To thrive as a Remote IP Core Network Engineer, you need deep knowledge of IP networking, routing protocols (such as BGP and OSPF), and a relevant degree or certifications like CCNP or CCIE. Familiarity with network management tools, configuration systems, and monitoring platforms is crucial for maintaining and troubleshooting core networks. Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and strong communication skills help you address complex network issues and collaborate effectively with remote teams. These skills are vital to ensure seamless network performance, high availability, and effective incident response in distributed environments.

What are the typical collaboration methods used by remote IP core network engineers when working with geographically dispersed teams?

Remote IP Core Network Engineers often collaborate with team members across different regions using a combination of real-time communication tools, such as video conferencing, instant messaging, and project management platforms. They participate in regular virtual meetings, document changes in shared repositories, and use ticketing systems to track issues and progress. Clear documentation and timely updates are crucial for ensuring network reliability and effective handovers. This remote structure enables engineers to contribute to global network initiatives while maintaining alignment with the broader technical team.

What is the difference between Remote Ip Core Network Engineer vs Remote Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician?

AspectRemote Ip Core Network EngineerRemote Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician
CredentialsNetworking certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP)Networking certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+)
Work EnvironmentDesign, optimize, and troubleshoot core IP networksMonitor and maintain network infrastructure, respond to alerts
Industry UsageTelecommunications, ISPs, large enterprise networksService providers, enterprise network support

The Remote Ip Core Network Engineer focuses on designing and maintaining core IP network infrastructure, requiring advanced networking skills and certifications. In contrast, the Remote NOC Technician primarily monitors network health, troubleshoots issues, and ensures uptime. Both roles are essential in network operations but differ in scope and responsibilities.

Job description

Overview

The Lead Infrastructure Engineerย on the Mission Control teamย plays a critical role in setting technicalย directionย and building,ย operating, and evolving the cloud infrastructure that supports reliable, secure, and scalable product delivery. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for turning platform needs, application requirements, and operational constraints into automated infrastructure, developer workflows, and team execution plans.ย

Working across cloud infrastructure, DevOps, production operations, and engineering leadership, thisย roleย partners closely with Engineering, Product, Security, Data, and domain Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure teams can ship quickly without compromising reliability, security, or compliance.ย

This roleย leadsย the development and evolution of core systems, spanning cloud environments, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containerized workloads, observability, secrets management, networking, data infrastructure, and deployment automation within a regulated, high-stakes environment. Successย requiresย strongย systemsย thinking, pragmatic engineering judgment, and the ability to guide a small, elite team through ambiguity.ย

The Lead Infrastructure Engineer is expected toย operateย in an AI-native engineering environment, using modern coding agents, automation tools, and rapid prototyping workflows to improve delivery speed and infrastructure quality. In parallel, this individual will help create the foundation for AI-enabled product capabilities by ensuring the underlying systems are dependable, observable, secure, cost-aware, and easy to use.ย

This is a fully remote position that offers a competitive salary range of $220,000 to $260,000 USD, plus an annual bonus. You'll also receive our excellent benefits package, which includes medical coverage starting on day one and a company-matched 401(k). Compensation may vary based on experience, location, and other job-related factors.

Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Engineeringย

  • Lead the design, build, and operation of cloud infrastructure across major platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure with a focus on reliability, scalability, security, and cost disciplineย
  • Establish reusable infrastructure patterns and technical standards that help product teams provision, deploy, andย operateย services consistentlyย
  • Own high-impact infrastructure initiatives from strategy and design through hands-on implementation, production rollout, monitoring, and iterationย

Infrastructure as Code & Automationย

  • Lead and contribute hands-on to infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform,ย Pulumi, Bicep, CloudFormation, or similar frameworksย
  • Automate repeatable operational workflows, environment provisioning, configuration management, deployment tasks, and team operating routinesย
  • Raise infrastructure quality through clear modules, versioning, documentation, testing, code review, and pragmatic standardsย

DevOps & Developer Experienceย

  • Partner with Engineering teams and technical leaders to improve CI/CD pipelines, release workflows, build systems, and deployment safetyย
  • Reduce friction for developers by guiding the creation of self-service tools, templates, runbooks, and paved-path workflowsย
  • Set pragmatic guardrails that balance speed and control so teams can move quickly whileย maintainingย strong production and change-management practicesย

Reliability, Observability & Production Operationsย

  • Lead production operations confidently, including deployments, incident response, troubleshooting, escalation management, and post-incident follow-upย
  • Define and improve observability across logs, metrics, traces, alerts, dashboards, service health indicators, and operational reviewsย
  • Drive architecture and operational decisions that improve uptime, performance, resilience, maintainability, and team effectivenessย
  • Anticipate and address reliability risks before they become customer-impacting issues, and coach others to build the same operational judgmentย

Security, Compliance & Cost Disciplineย

  • Establish secure infrastructure patterns, access controls, secrets management, andย least-privilegeย practices across services and environmentsย
  • Support compliance-aware engineering practicesย appropriate forย a regulated fintech environment and help teams apply them pragmaticallyย
