The Role

We are looking for an exceptional individual to elevate our strategic materials procurement capabilities and strengthen how Deckers partners with its most critical suppliers. This role shapes the commercial strategies, supplier relationships, and cross-functional decisions that support product creation, cost management, and long-term value. You will work closely with senior leaders, internal partners, and strategic suppliers to negotiate competitive outcomes, build enforceable contracts, and lead a team focused on market intelligence and forecasting. Success requires the ability to create structure in complex situations, build alignment across teams, and lead with clarity and accountability. Your Impact

  • Own executive-level supplier relationships, commercial outcomes, and lasting partnerships across a growing strategic materials portfolio, including business reviews, escalation paths, allocation decisions, and material diversification.
  • Lead commercial negotiations across pricing, incentives, payment terms, and incoterms, ensuring what is negotiated is captured through tight exception management and reliable tracking.
  • Build decision-ready business cases that translate complexity into clear options, tradeoffs, and recommendations. Resolve strategic supplier issues through commercial action and executive engagement.
  • Synchronize procurement priorities across Sourcing, Product Development, Vendor Management, Materials Development, Planning, Costing, Finance, and Legal, embedding procurement early to improve feasibility and outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary procurement point of contact for Tier 2 materials and provide clear recommendations to the CFO, CSCO, and Brand Presidents on approvals, risk mitigation, and opportunity capture.
  • Own market intelligence, forecasting, and scenario planning, translating commodity and capacity signals into pricing positions and forward-looking negotiation strategies.
  • Maintain accurate tracking of consumption, pricing, rebates, and commitments so performance is traceable from agreement to actuals, including audit-ready documentation for materials liabilities and SEC reporting needs. Establish operating rhythms that convert insights into timely decisions with clear ownership.
  • Apply selective contracting and build enforceable agreements, codifying practices into playbooks and templates that scale with the portfolio.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a small team of analysts, building sustainable operating models and strengthening capability in market modeling, pricing analytics, and executive-ready insights.

Who You Are

  • BA/BS in a relevant field, or equivalent years of experience (MBA preferred).
  • Bring 12+ years of experience in strategic procurement, sourcing, consulting, or related disciplines requiring complex negotiation and enterprise-level decision-making.
  • Have 5+ years building and leading high-performing teams in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
  • Possess 5+ years in executive-facing, global roles presenting recommendations and business cases to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience working across cultures and time zones with extensive international and domestic travel (25%+).
  • Deep understanding of procurement, sourcing, and supply chain economics, connecting market dynamics to commercial strategy.
  • Exceptional influence management skills, aligning stakeholders and leading across functions.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, simplifying complex topics for senior executives; high proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel (SQL a plus).
  • Advanced analytical capability including pricing analytics, scenario planning, forecasting, and should-cost thinking.
  • Proven negotiation skills, building trust and sustaining productive relationships across cultures and time zones.
  • Ability to design and maintain governance routines, business reviews, and operating rhythms.
  • Comfortable working in PLM, ERP, and planning platforms, translating data into insight and improving reporting quality.
  • Experience with footwear and apparel materials, and an understanding of development-to-commercialization cycles (preferred).
  • Experience supporting material innovation, sustainability, or traceability initiatives (preferred).
