What are some common challenges faced in a remote inventory control role, and how can they be addressed?

A common challenge in remote inventory control is maintaining real-time accuracy and visibility into stock levels without being physically present at the warehouse. This can be addressed by leveraging inventory management software that supports real-time data entry and regular communication with on-site staff. • Maintain project timelines, stakeholder communication, action items, and implementation tracking

3PL & Fulfillment Oversight

  • Monitor order flow, fulfillment performance, operational KPIs, and exception reporting
  • Reconcile inventory discrepancies across systems and partners
  • Coordinate FBA/WFS replenishment planning and transfer shipments
  • Track freight movements and resolve shipment exceptions proactively
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day operational coordination with 3PL partners

Data, Reporting & Systems

  • Support product launches, product development timelines, and operational readiness planning
  • Ensure data integrity across ERP, marketplace, warehouse, and reporting systems
  • Analyze operational, inventory, and forecast trends
  • Perform routine audits and verification of purchase orders, inventory records, vendor documentation, specifications, and supply chain data
  • Act as a secondary verification layer for operational and inventory data accuracy

Vendor & Growth Support

  • Maintain supplier documentation, compliance records, and operational files
  • Support onboarding and operational coordination for suppliers, manufacturers, and co-packers
  • Assist in vendor sourcing research, operational vetting, benchmarking, and scalability initiatives
  • Support and improve supply chain SOPs, workflows, and operational processes
  • Provide training, onboarding, and coordination support to future junior team members or coordinators as needed

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in supply chain, inventory planning, purchasing, logistics, or operations
  • Strong experience within e-commerce, DTC, consumer goods, or marketplace-driven environments preferred
  • APICS CPIM, APICS CSCP, PMP, CAPM, or equivalent certifications preferred
  • Experience with inventory forecasting, purchasing, fulfillment operations, and supply planning
  • Experience working with 3PLs, freight coordination, and international shipping documentation (DDP/FOB)

  • Familiarity with GS1 barcodes, spec sheets, technical documentation, and BOMs
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities
