Position Summary

The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing and reviewing business and individual tax returns, performing tax research, and serving as a client liaison to support long-term financial planning. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong tax knowledge and a passion for client relationships and mentorship. You will collaborate with firm partners, coach junior team members, and support business development initiatives.

Description of Duties

Tax Technical Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review complex business returns (Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065) and individual tax returns.
  • Create and review detailed work papers to support tax filings.
  • Conduct tax research using platforms such as Checkpoint and other firm tools and clearly communicate findings to clients.
  • Deliver high-quality work within expected timeframes and budget parameters.
  • Support partners and senior leaders in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Develop and begin executing a Personal Marketing Plan.
  • Mentor and lead a high-performing tax team: promote continuous learning

Client Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain strong trusted client relationships through regular communication and occasional on-site visits.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients by understanding their goals and delivering proactive tax guidance.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of client businesses and industries.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Mentor and train entry-level staff and interns by offering guidance and serving as a professional role model.
