Job description

Job Summary
Environmental Research Group, LLC (ERG) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Biologist/Project Manager to join our Natural Resources Team! The Senior Biologist/Project Manager will develop and lead Natural Resources projects across the Nation. They will also support and lead field surveys including, but not limited to, habitat assessments and presence/absence surveys for listed species, wetland delineations, invasive species surveys, and biological compliance monitoring. Additionally, the Senior Biologist/Project Manager will spend approximately 60% of their time performing computer-based work to manage multiple ongoing projects, support development of proposals, survey reports, management plans, and other project deliverables.
Fieldwork tasks include physical exertion such as walking or climbing over wet, rough, uneven, and/or rocky surfaces; bending, crouching, stooping, or reaching to observe, collect and/or record field data. Some surveys require hiking several miles in a day, working in and around water, and accessing caves or other challenging topography.
When not traveling (up to 40%), this position can be based anywhere in the USA with preference given to candidates that reside within an hour commute of a regional or international airport.
Essential Functions
The Senior Biologist/Project Manager will
  • Manage Natural Resources scopes of work for small to large projects
  • Supervise, mentor, and coordinate field biologists
  • Coordinate scopes, schedules, budgets compliance monitoring programs, ensuring adherence to various regulatory requirements
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies
  • Ensure effective communication with stakeholders to align on project goals and compliance requirements
  • Provide guidance and technical direction to clients and team members throughout project execution
  • Direct and review QA/QC processes, ensuring accuracy of daily logs, weekly, monthly, and annual compliance reports
  • Maintain accountability for project deliverables, timelines, and quality standards
  • Tactfully approach others; react well under pressure; treat others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; accept responsibility for own actions; follow through on commitments
  • Display original thinking and creativity when appropriate; meet challenges with resourcefulness; generate suggestions for improving work; develop innovative approaches and ideas
  • Adhere to ERG's safety protocols and ethical standards in all activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
Below are the required and preferred qualifications for this position
  • BA/BS in environmental science, biology, or a related discipline (required)
  • Master's degree or higher (preferred)
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in a professional setting performing the essential functions of this position - being a Natural Resources Project Manager (required)
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in a professional setting performing the essential functions of this position - being a Natural Resources Project Manager (preferred)
  • Strong technical writing and QA/QC skills for deliverable and proposal review and/or development (required)
  • Proven ability to manage teams, coordinate with agencies, and maintain client relationships (required)
  • Familiarity with biological resources, special-status species, and permitting processes across multiple states (required)
  • Willingness to conduct fieldwork up to 40% of the time, involving travel across the nation and overnight stays - travel expenses included (required)
  • Active first aid/CPR training (preferred)

Compensation & Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85,000 to $100,000 per year and includes ERG's full benefits package (health insurance with a generous employer subsidy, eleven paid holidays, paid time off, fitness stipend, a 401(k) plan with an employer contribution regardless of employee contribution, and more).
