Job description

Metro International Trade Services is a warehousing company based in the Midwest with locations throughout the United States. We are small (30 employees) and growing, and we feel like every employee is family!
We are looking for a Inventory Coordinator to:
  • Develop a working knowledge of warehousing and logistics services to perform a variety of shipping & receiving tasks.
  • Verify cargo received are as ordered and routes incoming items to appropriate departments/locations.
  • Prepare items for shipment ensuring cost effective courier services.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepares receipts and shipments for postal (E-commerce) or commercial conveyance.
  • Processes and prepares bills of lading; checks items to be received/shipped against Purchase/Sales Orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
  • Traces lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments, initiates proof of delivery, and/or proof of pickup documents.
  • Maintains department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records.
  • Assists in other departments/teams as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • Maintains safe work environment according to all department procedures, federal, and state regulations .

Requirements
  • Preference may be given to workers located in the Detroit Metro area.
  • HS Diploma, GED (or equivalent) required (associate's degree [AA] preferred).
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in industry experience.
  • A minimum one (1) year of experience in shipping, receiving, and logistics coordination.
  • WMS, TMS, etc. knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on MS Excel and MS Word knowledge required.
  • Must be extremely detail oriented with the ability to produce accurate, thorough and error free work.
  • Must be able to work and contribute to a team environment but also can work independently.
  • Must be able to use time efficiently and multi-task to meet established deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to listen effectively and ask questions when necessary.
  • Ability, and desire to, learn.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with vendors in English (note: candidates fluent in Korean may receive preference).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as invoices and shipping documents.
  • Attendance at work and punctuality is an essential function of this position.

Working Conditions:
  • 100% remote work (Detroit Metro area preferred, United States residents only).
  • Full-time; overtime may be required to meet project deadlines or during busy periods.
  • Reports to the Operations Inventory Manager.
  • The role may require occasional travel to external locations, regulatory meetings, or industry events.
