Tetra Tech is adding a Senior Project Manager in the Southwest Region to support our growing energy practice, with specific emphasis on expanding our siting, permitting, and engineering business. Successful candidates will have a strong technical background in siting, permitting, and environmental impact evaluation for energy projects, including solar, wind, energy storage, and transmission line development.

This position is Remote, with preference for candidates located in Arizona.

Position Summary:
The Senior Project Manager will lead and manage energy projects through all stages of development, from planning and permitting to design and implementation. This includes managing proposals, cost estimates, budgets, and client relationships while mentoring junior staff and ensuring the successful execution of project objectives.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Manage and lead tasks associated with energy projects, including proposal development, cost estimating, project execution, and client communications.
  • Oversee energy facility siting/routing, permitting, environmental field surveys, resource analysis, agency coordination, and public outreach.
  • Manage preparation of environmental and land use permit applications at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Represent clients before agencies such as BLM, USBR, USACE, USFWS, USFS, and local jurisdictions.
  • Manage the production of resource studies (e.g., wildlife, wetlands, cultural resources) and prepare submittals for state utility boards.
  • Participate in public hearings and present projects to agencies, boards, and councils.
  • Research and interpret regulatory requirements to assess permitting feasibility and ensure compliance.
  • Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior staff.
  • Work in compliance with Tetra Tech's health, safety, and quality standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline (Master's preferred).
  • 10+ years of related consulting experience, including technical team and project management.
  • Demonstrated experience with Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and/or Utah regulatory agencies.
  • Strong project experience in Arizona.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related project management tools.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Arizona State Land Department (ASLD) right-of-way process and Certificate of Environmental Compatibility (CEC) process.
  • Experience with electrical transmission siting and routing.
  • Experience managing multi-state energy permitting efforts.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
  • Work may be performed remotely, in the office, and occasionally in the field.
  • Field work may involve exposure to uneven terrain, outdoor conditions, and construction environments.
  • Collaboration across teams and regions is required.

Compensation:
Pay commensurate with experience.
Pay Range: $125,000-$150,000 Yearly
