Position: Intellectual Property Expert
Type: Contract
Compensation: $90–$100/hour
Location: Remote

Role Responsibilities

  • Construct IP scenarios for patent prosecution, portfolio strategy, and complex licensing or technology transfer processes.
  • Build tasks across patent prosecution, IP litigation, trademark and copyright practice, and freedom-to-operate analysis.
  • Develop scenarios using tools such as patent search platforms (PatSnap, Innography, USPTO PatFT) and IP docketing systems (Anaqua, CPA Global).
  • Apply IP methodologies like patentability analysis and claim construction to US and International standards (35 U.S.C., MPEP, EPC, PCT, WIPO treaties).
  • Author rubrics that distinguish authentic IP judgment from generic recall.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • 5+ years as an IP attorney or patent agent at a major IP firm or corporate IP department.
  • Direct ownership of patent prosecution portfolios, licensing negotiations, or IP litigation matters.
  • Fluency in IP tooling and methodologies, understanding of USPTO/EPO procedure and international treaty systems.

Preferred

  • Recognized professional credential (JD with bar admission, USPTO patent bar registration, or international equivalent).
  • Technical/STEM background plus prior rubric or training authorship.
