Work Environment

This role is remote, allowing you flexibility and the chance to connect with clients from various backgrounds. Regular virtual meetings will ensure seamless communication and teamwork, enabling the best practices in integrated care delivery. The work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional evening hours required for client appointments based on a rotating schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate and diagnose clients’ mental health and substance use issues, identifying co-occurring disorders.
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans in collaboration with clients that utilize evidence-based interventions, including motivational interviewing and integrated dual diagnosis treatment strategies.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions aimed at teaching clients coping skills, strategies for relapse prevention, and emotional regulation methods.
  • Coordinate care with an interdisciplinary team, ensuring an integrated approach to treatment that considers all aspects of a client’s health.
  • Monitor substance use and engage clients through motivational interviewing to promote accountability and support their recovery journey.
  • Educate clients and families about the relationship between mental health and substance use disorders, highlighting the importance of therapy and adherence to treatment.
  • Document client progress and treatment updates accurately and promptly, adhering to ethical and legal guidelines.
  • Participate in case conferences and staff training sessions to continuously improve treatment strategies and skills in dealing with co-occurring disorders.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on individuals grappling with various mental health issues alongside substance use disorders. This population often requires a nuanced understanding of the dual impacts of both conditions, and your expertise will be crucial in providing integrated care that respects their unique circumstances and promotes overall recovery and well-being.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist (LCMFT) in the state of Maryland.
  • Proficiency in evidence-based therapies including Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment (IDDT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
  • A strong understanding of the interplay between mental health and substance use disorders and their impact on individuals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in providing mental health counseling, particularly with clients who have co-occurring disorders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead therapy sessions and engage effectively with diverse client populations.
