Job Title: HL7 FHIR Integration Engineer

Location: Remote (Preference for candidates located in or willing to work from Waukesha, WI)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced HL7 FHIR Integration Engineer to join our healthcare technology team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in healthcare interoperability, HL7 messaging, FHIR standards, and healthcare system integrations. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting interfaces between clinical and business applications, ensuring seamless exchange of healthcare data across systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain healthcare integrations using HL7 v2.xFHIR, and related interoperability standards.
  • Analyze interface requirements and implement solutions to support data exchange between EHRs, clinical applications, and third-party systems.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, and development teams to deliver scalable integration solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve interface issues, data mapping challenges, and production support incidents.
  • Develop and maintain API-based integrations leveraging FHIR resources and healthcare interoperability frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare data standards, privacy regulations, and security best practices.
Required Skills
  • Strong experience in Healthcare Interoperability.
  • Hands-on expertise with HL7 v2.x and FHIR standards.
  • Experience integrating with EHR/EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data workflows, clinical data exchange, and interface development.
  • Experience with APIs, RESTful services, JSON, XML, and related integration technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with healthcare integration engines such as Mirth Connect, Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and healthcare data security.
