Description
We are excited to add a new Personal Injury Intake Paralegal to our intake team, a client-focused professional who can manage calls with potential clients while applying personal injury paralegal knowledge and legal common sense (without providing legal advice).

This position would be primarily a remote-working position with occasional in-office days for training, collaboration, and firm meetings.
Core Job Functions:
  • Serve as one of the first points of contact for prospective personal injury clients by handling incoming and new client calls for evaluation with primary focus on identifying viable personal injury cases.
  • Leverage prior personal injury experience to recognize legal issues, spot red flags, assess injury related facts, and identify potential cases through thorough and strategic intake interviews.
  • Conduct detailed intake interviews by gathering critical facts identifying missing or unclear information and preparing accurate call sheets as concise case summaries that assist attorneys in early case evaluation.
  • Use paralegal experience and legal common sense to evaluate basic case criteria and escalate matters to attorneys without offering legal advice.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while communicating with callers who may be distressed or injured, resolving actions to complete missing or unknown information, and forwarding all calls to the appropriate attorney phone or e-mail.
  • Organize and maintain early-stage case files ensuring accurate data entry and proper documentation.
  • Convey excellent phone etiquette and outstanding customer service.
  • Be a team player, able to assist others in the department to accomplish daily tasks.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and collaborate effectively with both the intake and personal injury teams.

Requirements
  • Knowledge of the personal injury legal process including injuries and treatment, medical billing and coordination of benefits, property damage, understand basic Pennsylvania insurance information including first party benefits, full tort and limited tort, and uninsured & underinsured insurance coverage.
  • Empathetic, professional communicator with strong phone etiquette.
  • Excellent multitasking, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office and database entry platforms.
  • Strict adherence to confidentiality.
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday with weekend availability as needed.
  • Primarily remote schedule with the ability to work in the Pittsburgh office for in-person mandatory meetings as needed.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of paralegal experience in personal injury law required.
  • Candidates should be located within a reasonable commuting distance of our Pittsburgh (North Shore) office. We generally define this as being within a 50 minute drive during peak traffic hours to ensure a sustainable work-life balance and on-site collaboration.
  • Paralegal degree or certificate (with relevant experience required ).
