JOB SUMMARY: The Sr. Software Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining mission-critical customer-facing applications by working on both front-end user interfaces and backend business logic running on Tomcat application servers. You will develop new features for future releases, resolve production defects, and maintain production and lower environment map data databases. Join a small, experienced team of senior developers with exceptional longevity where you'll have significant impact on an enterprise-level application that customers depend on.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Collaborate with Business Systems Analysts and QA teams to establish clear requirements, understanding, and alignment
  • Maintain ESRI/ArcGIS databases and their related scripts
  • Partner with technical leaders to design solutions, evaluate tools, and assess third-party products
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum development processes with flexibility for waterfall/project-based approaches
  • Design innovative solutions for complex problems beyond straightforward coding requirements, including proof-of-concept development with senior technical resources
  • Fulfill on-call rotation responsibilities for production support
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or related field
  • 7+ years of Enterprise Java (JEE) development experience
  • Proficiency with ESRI GIS platform, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Server for publishing and managing GIS services
  • Experience with spatial databases and SQL Server
  • Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and Java
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, LLM-based code generation) to improve code quality, velocity, and maintainability

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Spring Boot, Angular, React, or Vue.js

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the responsibilities of the job, the person in this position will be required to frequently communicate information so others will understand. The person in this position may need to position self to maintain files in a cabinet and place computers under a desk or in a cabinet. This position requires ability to constantly observe typewritten text on a computer screen. The person in this role is required to operate a laptop and use a telephone regularly. The person in this position may be required to travel throughout the USA by automobile or airplane which may require overnight lodging.
