Job description

Mindex is looking for a Data Engineer with strong SQL and data analysis instincts to join a growing data platform team. In this role, you'll build and maintain data pipelines, models, and transformations in Snowflake using DBT and turn raw, messy source data into reliable, analysis-ready datasets.

The single most important skill for this role is data analysis ability: the capacity to dig into unfamiliar source systems, understand what the data means, surface data quality issues, and make well-reasoned decisions about how to model and use it. Strong communication skills are equally important. You'll need to document your findings and decisions clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Compensation

$90,000 - $140,000

What You'll Accomplish
  • Build and maintain DBT models (Core), including models, tests, macros, and lineage documentation
  • Design and optimize Snowflake objects, dynamic tables, views, and schemas, for performance and clarity
  • Develop and support data ingestion pipelines using tools such as Informatica, Fivetran, or Openflow
  • Profile and analyze source data from complex, multi-domain systems (HRIS, payroll, client platforms) to surface quality issues and inform modeling decisions
  • Write advanced SQL to investigate data, validate transformations, and answer ad hoc business questions
  • Collaborate with data architects to implement canonical data models and ensure consistency across domains
  • Document data quality findings, transformation logic, and modeling decisions in a clear and defensible way

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with advanced SQL
  • 2+ years of experience with DBT Core (models, tests, macros, sources, lineage)
  • 2+ years of experience with Snowflake (dynamic tables, views, performance tuning, schema design)
  • Experience with data ingestion/replication tooling such as Informatica, Fivetran, or Openflow
  • Demonstrated ability to profile and analyze source data from complex or poorly documented systems
  • Proficiency in Python for data processing and pipeline support
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
Why Join Mindex?

For more than 30 years, Mindex has helped organizations solve complex business challenges through custom software, cloud, data, and AI solutions. We combine deep technical expertise with a collaborative culture that empowers our employees to innovate, grow, and make a meaningful impact for our clients.

In our Product division, our teams have built platforms such as SchoolTool, Advanced Analytics, and our Integrations Platform from the ground up, while also supporting solutions like MTSS Edge and ClearTrack that help schools and organizations make smarter, data-driven decisions.

Benefits

  • Fully Remote Work Environment
  • Flexible Time Off
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) with Company Match
  • Company-Paid Life and Disability Insurance
  • Professional Development Opportunities
Additional Information

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States. Mindex is unable to sponsor employment visas at this time.

Physical Requirements/Conditions:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
No heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 10 lbs.
