You will help transform academic expertise into high-quality asynchronous and competency-based instruction that supports student engagement, persistence, completion, and success.Your ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with USNCC faculty and Subject Matter Experts to design online curriculum aligned with course and program learning outcomesApply evidence-based instructional design and adult-learning principles to asynchronous and competency-based educationDevelop course design maps, storyboards, course syllabi, instructional content, and related design documentationDesign instructional activities and assessments that align learning objectives, instructional content, and expected student outcomesDevelop and maintain text, video, graphics, animations, interactive activities, simulations, games, and other multimedia learning assetsDevelop formative, summative, authentic, and peer assessments and associated assessment rubricsBuild, migrate, and maintain course content within the designated Learning Management SystemSupport development and maintenance of faculty and student community sites, including orientation, faculty development, LMS training, and online-learning best practicesEnsure instructional materials meet accessibility requirements, including WCAG 2.1 AA, and incorporate Universal Design for Learning principlesConduct usability and quality reviews for course functionality, accessibility, mobile responsiveness, accuracy, and completenessPerform routine course maintenance, including correcting broken or inaccurate content, updating links and resources, and implementing approved course revisionsIncorporate faculty, student, stakeholder, and quality-review feedback into course updatesParticipate in planning, review, and project-status meetings and provide progress updates on assigned workYour QualificationsMinimum 7 years experience designing and developing online asynchronous or competency-based learningKnowledge of instructional design methodologies and adult-learning/andragogical principlesExperience collaborating with faculty, instructors, or Subject Matter Experts to translate expertise into effective online instructionExperience developing learning objectives, instructional content, activities, assessments, and rubricsExperience working within a Learning Management System such as Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, or a comparable platformKnowledge of accessibility and Universal Design for Learning principlesStrong written communication skills and the ability to develop clear, academic, factual, and learner-centered contentExperience with multimedia, interactive learning, microlearning, scenario-based learning, or simulations preferredExperience supporting undergraduate higher education, adult learners, military-affiliated education, or government training preferredFamiliarity with SCORM/xAPI standards preferred; Experience with LMS operations/maintenanceMust be able to successfully complete required background investigation requirements and obtain a contractor CAC, as applicableMust meet applicable U.S. citizenship or permanent residency requirementsPosition is fully virtual; no travel is required
