Job description

Technology Innovation Specialist - Remote

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions to many of the world's top-recognized brands and companies, is actively seeking a Technology Innovation Specialist to join our People Assurance team as a remote employee. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Technology Innovation.

Intertek's People Assurance teams empower your workforce to identify and close operational gaps and mitigate risk by assuring smart actions across your organization. Intertek Alchemy provides frontline worker training solutions for processors, manufacturers, packagers, and distributors of all sizes. Intertek Catalyst inspires and engages workforces with highly creative, custom-branded, asset protection communication programs tailor-made strategic solutions designed to leverage our clients' company brand, values, and objectives to optimize the culture of their people. Intertek Wisetail provides a custom branded training and communication platform built to engage today's workforce with a complete learning management system, giving customers the tools to grow their passionate workforce. Intertek is continually innovating and evolving to reduce risk for consumers, brands and organizations in every sector and industry around the world. We go beyond Testing, Inspection and Certification of products: we are a Total Quality Assurance Provider to industries worldwide. Our Purpose: Bringing quality, safety, and sustainability to life.

What are we looking for?

The Technology Innovation Specialist is a highly autonomous individual contributor embedded within the People Assurance Innovation Lab and reporting directly to the VP of Technology. This role sits at the intersection of software development and product strategy and serves as a critical bridge between raw innovation and its broader impact - whether for executive audiences, the general public, or our own product teams. This person transforms early-stage ideas, proof-of-concepts, and technical breakthroughs into compelling, polished artifacts: live demos, presentation decks, demo videos, written narratives, and handoff materials. They also independently conceive, build, and evangelize their own innovations. When an innovation is ready to move into production, this role translates it into clear, actionable context that our product and engineering teams can act on. In addition, this role may serve as a liaison for innovation initiatives through the VP of Technology, supporting executive-level strategic charters and the People Assurance executive operating system.

Salary & Benefits Information

Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

In addition to competitive compensation packages, when working with Intertek you can expect benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) with company match, generous vacation / sick time (PTO), tuition reimbursement and more.

What you'll do:

  • Work directly with innovators, architects, and senior contributors to understand emerging technology work and transform it into polished, audience-ready artifacts including executive presentations, live demos, and demo videos.
  • Bring the right story to the right audience: translate complex technical work into compelling narratives for executive leadership, external stakeholders, or the general public.
  • Serve as the bridge between the innovation lab and the product development lifecycle; packaging proven concepts with the documentation, context, and clarity that product and engineering teams need to take them to production.
  • Independently conceive, prototype, and demonstrate your own innovations, contributing original ideas and proof-of-concepts to the team's pipeline.
  • Stay at the forefront of emerging technology trends and actively bring relevant insights, tools, and ideas back to the organization.
  • Support executive-level strategic initiatives through the VP of Technology, contributing to company-wide charters and preparing materials for leadership briefings and cross-functional conversations.
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment; defining your own direction, managing your own priorities, and delivering work that speaks for itself.

This position outline is a general guideline and does not represent all encompassing details. The position assumes that the incumbent has both the mental and physical requirements to carry out the above defined duties.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • 4+ years of combined experience in software development, technical product management, or a closely related discipline.

  • Demonstrable development experience (able to read, write, modify, and debug code across at least one relevant stack- example; front-end JavaScript/React, back-end PHP/Node, or similar).

  • Strong product intuition- ability to think in terms of user outcomes, future scope, and business value

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives for non-technical audiences.

  • Experience creating polished presentations, demos, or other audience-facing materials from technical source material.

  • Comfortable with self-directed work, open-ended problems, and high ambiguity and be able to define your own direction and execute without detailed requirements.

  • Strong creative and visual instincts and can recognize and produce work that looks and feels professional and intentional.

  • Collaborative and curious and enjoys working alongside technical experts while also contributing independently.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines.

  • Must be detail-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management.

  • Must be customer focused and quality driven.

  • This is a remote position; however, applicants must reside in and be able to legally work in the United States.
  • This position is not open for current/future sponsorship

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Experience working in or alongside an innovation lab, R&D function, or early-stage product team.

  • Familiarity with the People Assurance technology stack: PHP/Laravel, React.js, AWS, MAUI, or related technologies.

  • Experience working with AI/LLM tools in a development or product context.

  • Ability to produce demo videos or screencasts using screen recording and light video editing tools.

  • Experience supporting executive communications, strategic planning processes, or senior leadership presentations.

  • Knowledge of agile and SAFe methodologies.

  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and regulations (PCI, PII, PHI, HIPAA, GDPR, ADA, etc.)

  • Experience with Learning Management Systems or training-focused platforms.
