Remote Innovation Consultant information

What is a remote innovation consultant?

A Remote Innovation Consultant is a professional who helps organizations develop and implement new ideas, products, or strategies while working from a remote location. They use their expertise in creativity, problem-solving, and industry trends to guide businesses through innovation processes without being physically present on-site. This role often involves virtual workshops, research, and collaboration with teams to identify opportunities for growth and improvement. Remote Innovation Consultants may work independently or as part of a consulting firm, serving clients across various industries.

How does a remote innovation consultant typically collaborate with clients and internal teams while working off-site?

As a Remote Innovation Consultant, collaboration is primarily achieved through virtual meetings, digital whiteboards, and project management platforms. You’ll frequently coordinate brainstorming sessions, present findings, and facilitate workshops online to drive creative solutions. Close communication with both clients and cross-functional internal teams is essential, requiring strong digital communication skills and proactive engagement to ensure alignment and project momentum. While remote, you'll also need to adapt to different client cultures and schedules, making flexibility and responsiveness key to successful partnerships.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote innovation consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Innovation Consultant, you need expertise in creative problem-solving, strategic thinking, and a background in business, design, or technology, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with digital collaboration tools (such as Miro, Slack, and Zoom), innovation frameworks, and sometimes certifications like Design Thinking or Agile are typically required. Strong communication, facilitation, and adaptability are vital soft skills for engaging clients and leading virtual workshops. These skills ensure you can drive innovative solutions, foster collaboration across remote teams, and deliver measurable value to clients.

We are FIS. Our technology powers the world's economy and our teams bring innovation to life. We champion diversity to deliver the best products and solutions for our colleagues, clients and communities. If you're ready to start learning, growing, and making an impact with a career in fintech, we'd like to know: Are you FIS?

About the Role

As a Consultant II, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful conversion and implementation of customer data into Integrated Banking Systems (IBS). You will analyze customer data, business processes, and operational requirements to design accurate data mappings and conversion strategies. Working closely with clients, technical teams, and implementation partners, you will help ensure data integrity, operational readiness, and a seamless transition to FIS solutions. Success in this role is measured by conversion accuracy, client satisfaction, risk mitigation, and successful implementation outcomes.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Analyze customer data files, workflows, and business requirements to develop comprehensive data conversion strategies.
  • Create and maintain field-to-field data mapping documentation that supports accurate and efficient data migration.
  • Validate and reconcile conversion data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with customer requirements.
  • Configure customer-specific processing parameters and system settings within IBS solutions.
  • Execute testing activities, review conversion results, and identify opportunities to improve data quality and processing accuracy.
  • Partner with clients and technical teams to translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
  • Lead readiness reviews by coordinating testing, training validation, procedural reviews, and operational preparedness activities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor during implementation and conversion events, providing troubleshooting, issue resolution, and client support.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and conversion outcomes to stakeholders throughout the implementation lifecycle.
  • Support continuous process improvement initiatives that enhance conversion efficiency, quality, and customer experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience within a banking environment.
  • Experience performing data mapping, data validation, data analysis, and conversion activities for banking or financial services systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex data structures.
  • Ability to translate customer business requirements into clear technical specifications and actionable solutions.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills with experience supporting both remote and onsite engagements.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across clients, implementation teams, and technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of FIS products and services, particularly Integrated Banking Systems (IBS).
  • Experience with core deposit applications and exceptions processing.
  • Understanding of banking operations, data conversion methodologies, and implementation best practices.
  • Experience supporting large-scale system implementations or core banking conversions.
  • Familiarity with data quality, reconciliation, and testing frameworks.

At FIS, we are as committed to growing our employees' careers as our own business. We offer:

  • Opportunities to innovate in fintech
  • Inclusive and diverse team atmosphere
  • Professional and personal development
  • Resources to contribute to your community
