Job description

Location: New York, NY or San Francisco, CA preferred; open to U.S.-based remote candidates near a major airport
Work Model: Hybrid or Remote
Industry: Enterprise AI Infrastructure / Developer Tools
Compensation: Competitive salary + equity

About the Company

Our partner is a well-funded, early-stage enterprise AI infrastructure company building foundational software that helps organizations safely deploy AI across internal systems, tools, and workflows. The team has deep experience in AI products, developer platforms, and enterprise software, and is operating at the center of a fast-moving shift in how enterprises adopt AI in production environments.

With strong early customer traction, a highly technical team, and a growing go-to-market organization, the company is focused on building reliable, enterprise-ready products that combine speed, usability, and operational rigor.

The Opportunity

Our partner is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to work closely with customers during both pre-sales and post-sales engagements. This is a highly technical, customer-facing role for someone who enjoys solving real implementation problems, working directly with engineering teams, and helping customers successfully deploy complex products in their own environments.

You will play a critical role in pilots, proofs of concept, integrations, and technical troubleshooting. This role is ideal for someone who has strong engineering fundamentals, enjoys working with people as much as systems, and wants to operate at the intersection of product, engineering, and customer success in an early-stage environment.

Responsibilities
  • Partner directly with customers during pre-sales and post-sales technical engagements
  • Support proofs of concept, pilot implementations, and production-oriented deployments
  • Troubleshoot integration issues and help customers build within their own environments
  • Translate customer requirements into practical technical solutions
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and go-to-market teams to unblock customer progress
  • Represent the company credibly in technical conversations with senior engineers and enterprise stakeholders
  • Surface recurring customer needs and implementation patterns to internal teams
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering, solutions engineering, forward deployed engineering, technical consulting, or a related customer-facing technical role
  • Strong technical foundation, ideally with a computer science background or equivalent hands-on engineering experience
  • Ability to work directly with customers and communicate clearly in technical settings
  • Experience troubleshooting integrations, implementations, or deployment-related issues
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, early-stage environments and moving quickly with limited structure
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance technical depth with customer empathy
  • Regular use of modern engineering tools and AI-assisted workflows in day-to-day work
Nice to Have
  • Experience in enterprise software, developer tools, AI infrastructure, or technical platforms
  • Prior software engineering experience, especially in product or systems environments
  • Exposure to pre-sales, post-sales, or implementation work with technical customers
  • Comfort traveling as needed for customer-facing work
