Summary/Purpose

Manage both air and ocean import shipments, tracking, customs clearance, ISF filings, and tariff classification for the business to ensure that cargo arrives timely.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

•   Handle all ocean and air imports shipments which includes customs clearance (7501), ISF filings, HTS classification, and documentation

•   Audits customs broker activity and ensures timely approval of invoices for payment

•   Maintains electronic copies of 7501 for recordkeeping

•   HTS Classificaiton

•   Tracing shipments and providing status to internal customers

•   Work with various customs brokers, forwarders, truckers, steamship lines, agents as well as both internal and external customers

•   Assist with freight claims

•   Assist with Duty Drawback claims/documentation

•   Knowledge with C-TPAT program  and facilitation with the program

•   Other duties as assigned


Supervisory Responsibilities:

•   This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•   3-5 years of customs broker experience

•   Knowledge in Excel, PowerPoint, and Access

•   Experience with an ERP system, preferably Oracle

•   Detailed oriented

•   Knowledge of 19 CFR, HTSUS, C-TPAT, and FTA


Education and Experience
:

•   College Degree preferred

•   Customs Broker experience (import/export/classification/compliance) 3-5 years

 

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

•   Work is mostly performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with substantial time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.

•   The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.

•   Travel by automobile and plane required approximately 5-10% of time.
