Job description

Graham Technologies is seeking a Senior Appian Developer to lead the design and development of mission-critical applications on the Appian platform. This role involves end-to-end application development, from requirements gathering to deployment and support, with a strong focus on adhering to best practices and driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in Appian development, mentoring teams, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders in Agile environments.

Location: Remote

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with product owners and business analysts to refine user stories and define detailed technical acceptance criteria.
  • Lead the design and development of complex Appian features, including SAIL interfaces, process models, data objects, and integrations.
  • Participate in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and effort estimation for tasks and user stories.
  • Drive and enforce best practices across design, development, code reviews, and solution delivery.
  • Mentor junior developers and support team-wide knowledge sharing and growth.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, including performance tuning and integration challenges.
  • Provide testing support by defining test cases, validating functionality, and participating in remediation activities.
  • Contribute to internal documentation and training materials to support application knowledge and adoption.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers, QA engineers, and DevOps resources to ensure cohesive, scalable solutions.
  • Stay current with Appian platform updates, tools, and industry trends, and recommend enhancements to development practices.

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in application development, with strong expertise in Appian (minimum 5 years preferred).
  • Appian Senior Developer Certification (required)
  • Proficiency in SAIL, Appian process modeling, Appian Records, integrations, and Appian data types (CDTs)
  • Experience with SQL, relational databases, and REST/SOAP web services
  • Familiarity with Appian testing frameworks and methodologies
  • Experience mentoring and leading development teams
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban), and tools like Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Visio, and SharePoint
  • Knowledge of business process management (BPM) concepts and workflow design
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Experience working in public sector or highly regulated environments
  • Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing in Appian
