Senior Project Manager – Stormwater & Drainage Engineering

Municipal Infrastructure & Water Resources


Location: Western Suburbs of Chicago, IL

Work Arrangement: Primarily Onsite with Limited Remote Flexibility

Compensation: $130,000+ Base Salary, Bonus Potential, Profit Sharing


About the Opportunity


A respected municipal engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Project Manager with expertise in hydrology, hydraulics, and urban stormwater management to help lead critical infrastructure projects for municipal clients throughout the region.


This position will serve as a technical leader for drainage and stormwater initiatives while also managing multidisciplinary engineering projects, mentoring staff, and contributing to the organization's long-term growth strategy.


The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with project leadership experience and a desire to help shape the future of a growing engineering practice.


What You'll Do

  • Lead drainage, stormwater, and municipal infrastructure projects
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and client expectations
  • Perform and oversee hydrologic and hydraulic analyses
  • Develop innovative solutions for stormwater challenges in fully developed urban environments
  • Prepare and review drainage studies and technical memorandums
  • Conduct flood mitigation and stormwater management evaluations
  • Mentor junior engineers in drainage and hydraulic design
  • Review private development stormwater submissions for compliance
  • Coordinate with municipalities, agencies, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Support construction oversight and field activities as needed


Technical Responsibilities

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 5+ years of municipal engineering experience, 10+ years preferred
  • Strong background in hydrology and hydraulics
  • Experience with stormwater management and drainage projects
  • Experience leading engineering teams and projects
  • Knowledge of municipal, county, and watershed regulations
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills
