Job Summary:

The Assured and Adequate Water Supply (AAWS) Intern will support the section with a variety of administrative and program-related tasks, with a focus on records management, file inventory, and handling public records requests. The intern will assist staff by preparing and organizing application files, maintaining accurate records, and supporting day-to-day program operations.

This role offers the opportunity to gain practical experience in a professional regulatory environment while learning how the State's landmark Assured Water Supply Program is administered. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to water sustainability efforts.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures. A minimum of two days on-site at the ADWR office per week is required.

The State of Arizona strives for a work culture that affords employees flexibility, autonomy, and trust. Across our many agencies, boards, and commissions, many State employees participate in the State's Remote Work Program and are able to work remotely in their homes, in offices, and in hoteling spaces. All work, including remote work, should be performed within Arizona unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.

Job Duties:
  • Assist with records management and inventory, including organizing files, entering data into databases, and maintaining accurate records for program needs
  •  Support the processing of public records requests by compiling, reviewing, and providing requested materials in a timely and accurate manner
  • Collaborate with section staff to learn about program operations and the statutory and regulatory requirements that guide permitting decisions
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Basic office practices such as filing, organizing, and record-keeping

This position requires possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid, state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment

Candidates must be enrolled in a degree program related to water resources management, sustainability, environmental studies, public administration, public policy, history, geography, political science, urban planning, or a related field.
