Job description

Your Role

Hudl's Front-End Platform team accelerates web development for our 500+ member product team, and improves the web experience for the 100M+ fans, 315K+ teams, and 40+ sports that use our products. We're looking for an experienced Engineer with deep front-end expertise to expand the platform.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll:

  • Develop. You'll help expand Hudl's front-end platform and make it the standard across Hudl. Whether it's discovery work, documentation, design reviews or implementation, you'll do what it takes to ensure a robust, performant, and easy-to-use platform that's also maintainable, scalable, accessible and secure.
  • Maintain tooling. You'll use your experience with tools such as Vite and Next.js to ensure tooling is up-to-date and providing a smooth development experience for front-end developers.
  • Serve as a consultant. With your general expertise in front-end development, and knowledge of Hudl's front-end platform in particular, you'll support teams performing front-end work by answering questions, reviewing pull requests, participating in design reviews, and providing feedback on project plans.

For this role, we're currently prioritizing applicants who live within commuting distance of our offices in Lincoln or Omaha, Nebraska, but we're open to remote applicants who live in the following states: AL, AZ, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MA, MI, MN, MO, NE, NH, NC, NV, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WI, WY.

Must-Haves
  • Front-end expertise. You have extensive experience developing front-ends with TypeScript and React. You have either led, or played a key role in the development of large scale web applications. You're familiar with design systems and their role in ensuring a consistent, intuitive and accessible experience for users.
  • Effective communication skills. You're able to make your point effectively, both verbally and in writing. Whether you're building alignment in a meeting, presenting at an Engineering All-Hands, or diagramming CDN routing for a software design review, you know how to effectively share your ideas with your audience.
  • Understanding of front-end tooling. You understand the tools available in a front-end developer's tool belt and know when to use which tool. You've used modern tools like Vite, Playwright, Storybook, Chromatic, and Turborepo and have helped others adopt them. You are comfortable setting-up and configuring tools to ensure they are working smoothly for you and others.
  • A visionary. You're excited by the idea of advancing the starting line for other product team members by delivering and supporting a solid platform for them to build on. You see AI playing a critical role in accelerating this vision.
Nice-to-Haves
  • Passionate about front-end landscape. Your passionate about the front-end ecosystem and proactively stay abreast of its evolving landscape. You ensure your approach to front-end development evolves with the landscape, championing the adoption of modern concepts like Jamstack, component-driven development, micro-frontends, and monorepos.
  • Experience working with front-end infrastructure. You're comfortable working with AWS and Terraform if updates are needed to our Jamstack or SSR infrastructure.
  • Commitment to mentorship. You recognize the importance mentorship plays in a company's long-term success, and you seek out opportunities to share knowledge and level up others in your areas of expertise.
Our Role
  • Champion work-life harmony. We'll give you the flexibility you need in your work life (e.g., flexible vacation time, company-wide holidays and timeout (meeting-free) days, remote work options and more) so you can enjoy your personal life too.
  • Guarantee autonomy. We have an open, honest culture and we trust our people from day one. Your team will support you, but you'll own your work and have the agency to try new ideas.
  • Encourage career growth. We're lifelong learners who encourage professional development. We'll give you tons of resources and opportunities to keep growing.
  • Provide an environment to help you succeed. We've invested in our offices, designing incredible spaces with our employees in mind. But whether you're at the office or working remotely, we'll provide you the tech stack and hardware to do your best work.
  • Support your mental and physical health. We care about our employees' wellbeing. Our Employee Assistance Program, employee resource groups and fitness partner Peerfit have you covered.
  • Cover your medical insurance. We have multiple plans to pick from to ensure you'll have the coverage you (and your dependents) want, including vision, dental, fertility healthcare and family forming benefits.
  • Contribute to your 401(K). Yep, that's free money. We'll match up to 4% of your own contribution.
