Oil and Gas Specialist I 

Position Summary

The Oil and Gas Specialist I is an entry-level role within Alliance’s environmental compliance services team, supporting the execution of engine compliance programs and “Compliance as a Service” offerings. Under direct supervision of senior staff, this role assists with data management, scheduling coordination, regulatory tracking, and administrative support to ensure compliance obligations are met accurately and on time. This position is designed as a developmental role providing foundational experience in emissions compliance, air quality regulations, and project coordination.  Job can be performed primarily remote with periodic work in Sheridan, WY office.

Level I Role Expectations

• Works under direct supervision with clearly defined tasks and priorities

• Focuses on learning technical, regulatory, and internal processes

• Performs task-based execution rather than full project ownership

• Escalates issues to higher-level staff

• Builds foundational knowledge of air regulations and compliance systems

Program Support & Data Management

• Assist in maintaining engine asset inventories

• Enter and update compliance data in tracking systems

• Organize and maintain compliance records

• Support data collection for audits and compliance reviews

Test Scheduling & Coordination Support

• Assist with maintaining emissions testing schedules

• Coordinate with internal teams to support logistics

• Track scheduled and completed test events

• Identify scheduling conflicts and escalate

Regulatory & Reporting Support

• Assist in preparing regulatory notifications

• Track deadlines for regulatory requirements

• Support organization of test reports

• Maintain compliance documentation

Administrative & Project Coordination

• Prepare meeting materials and reports

• Document meeting notes and track action items

• Communicate with teams and vendors

• Assist in maintaining SOPs

Quality & Process Support

• Perform quality checks on data

• Identify missing or inconsistent information

• Support process improvements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (or in progress)

• 0–2 years of experience

• Strong attention to detail

• Basic proficiency in Excel and business software

• Strong communication skills

• Willingness to learn environmental regulations

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. The pay range for this entry-level role is a base hourly range of $22-$30 depending on direct industry experience and specific skill sets.
