Job description

This is a remote position.

We are seeking a Product Owner to support Smart Meter / AMI modernization efforts with a focus on meter‑to‑middleware data flow, device network operations, and integration stability. This role owns a defined product area between the AMI head‑end (L+G or Itron preferred) and the middleware layer, ensuring meter data is reliably collected, validated, transported, and monitored across the AMI ecosystem.

This is not a strategic roadmap role — it is a hands‑on, delivery‑focused PO supporting an “out‑of‑the‑box” AMI infrastructure component. The ideal candidate understands how AMI networks move data, how head‑end systems behave, and how to work with IT Ops, network teams, and SI partners to keep data flowing and issues visible.

Responsibilities
  • Own the product area responsible for meter data collection, transport, and monitoring between the AMI head‑end and middleware.

  • Maintain and prioritize the backlog for enhancements, alerts, integrations, and workflow improvements.

  • Write clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional requirements for data flow, event handling, and operational monitoring.

  • Partner with business SMEs and IT Ops to validate AMI workflows, device behavior, and interval data requirements.

  • Support integration work across HES, MDMS, middleware, CIS, OMS, and related systems.

  • Ensure reliable data movement from RF/telecom networks through the head‑end and into downstream systems.

  • Collaborate with the system integrator and technical teams to align on design, configuration, and operational readiness.

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and drive sprint‑level delivery.

  • Support testing, validation, and release readiness for AMI data flow and monitoring capabilities.

  • Track dependencies, risks, and cross‑team impacts across AMI workstreams.

  • Provide clear communication on progress, blockers, and operational impacts.

RequirementsRequired Skills
  • 4–7 years as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or hybrid PO/BA.

  • Experience with Smart Meter / AMI programs, ideally with Landis+Gyr or Itron head‑end systems.

  • Understanding of RF mesh, telecom‑based meter networks, and how meter data is collected and transported.

  • Experience with AMI data flows, interval data, event processing, and device behavior.

  • Ability to write high‑quality user stories and acceptance criteria.

  • Experience working with MDMS or HES (functional, not architectural depth required).

  • Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Skills
  • Background in IT Operations, Network Operations, or infrastructure‑level software.

  • Exposure to CIS, OMS, ADMS, or meter‑to‑cash processes.

  • Experience coordinating with offshore or distributed delivery teams.

  • Familiarity with AMI device provisioning, firmware updates, or alerting/monitoring tools.

  • Experience with Jira or Azure DevOps.

BenefitsBenefits
  • Remote (US‑based).

  • Opportunity to work across business, IT, and SI partners.

  • Occasional travel for key workshops (if required).
