About the role:

As a Senior Software Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing and managing the cloud based services that power the AssistIQ platform.

We are looking for an engineer who embraces modern AI tools as a core part of their development workflow. You should be someone who actively uses AI to accelerate software development, improve code quality, troubleshoot problems, automate repetitive work and increase your overall engineering leverage.

To be successful, you will have to be able to juggle responsibilities in parallel, prioritize competing deliverables efficiently, communicate effectively across the organization and be driven by continuous improvement.

We would expect you to be knowledgeable, articulate, sensible, able to coordinate with other peers and senior executives, and collaborate and deliver results in a fast-paced environment where teamwork, professionalism, confidentiality, and communication are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a key stakeholder of the AWS cloud platform and ensure we follow engineering and cloud best practices
  • Design, develop and enhance the capabilities of the AssistIQ platform
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools throughout the software development lifecycle to improve engineering velocity, quality and effectiveness
  • Use AI to accelerate activities such as software development, code review, debugging, testing, documentation, technical research and system design
  • Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to simplify repetitive engineering tasks and improve development workflows
  • Streamline the deployment process and ensure automation and continuous integration best practices are followed
  • Develop internal tools to optimize the management and monitoring of our deployments
  • Analyze current technologies and processes, and rapidly research, evaluate and experiment with new approaches to improve them, leveraging AI tools to accelerate the path from idea to implementation
  • Provide technical and analytical guidance to other Engineering team members
  • Participate in drafting, reviewing and maintaining technical documentation
  • Participate in product management planning of product features and development projects
  • Participate in the on-call production support rotation

Requirements

    • 5+ years’ experience in software development
    • 3+ years’ experience building serverless AWS applications and working with the AWS SDK
    • 3+ years’ experience monitoring, supporting and enhancing production applications
    • 1+ years’ experience actively using modern AI development tools as a core part of the software development lifecycle, including coding, debugging, testing, code review, technical research, documentation and system design
    • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI to materially improve engineering productivity while maintaining strong engineering judgment, code quality, security and reliability
    • Expertise in one of the following: JavaScript/TypeScript, Python or Go
    • Experience building CI/CD pipelines and applying automation and continuous integration best practices
    • Experience with infrastructure as code using AWS CDK or Terraform
    • Experience with SQL and NoSQL datastores such as PostgreSQL and DynamoDB
    • Experience with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog or New Relic
    • Computer Science degree, relevant diploma or demonstrable equivalent work experience
    • Experience with ReactJS or React Native is an asset
    • Experience in the life sciences, healthcare or technology industry is an asset
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; French communication skills are an asset
    • You are legally entitled to work in Canada
