This full-time position offers the flexibility of a remote work setting while being an integral part of our outpatient office team based in Zion, Illinois. The typical work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts required based on the specific needs of our patients. • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments to identify the specific needs and challenges faced by older adults.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to accommodate cognitive changes, physical health considerations, and social factors affecting patients.
• Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, offering both individual and family therapy aimed at addressing various geriatric psychiatric conditions.
• Collaboration is key; you will work closely with geriatric psychiatrists and other health care professionals to deliver integrated and holistic care.
• In times of crisis, provide timely intervention and support for elderly patients experiencing mental health emergencies.
• Educate patients and their families regarding mental health conditions and available treatment options, expanding their understanding of community resources.
• Maintain accurate, confidential documentation in compliance with all legal and ethical standards.
• Regularly participate in team meetings and case consultations, fostering a culture of ongoing professional development.
• Stay engaged with current research and advancements in geriatric psychiatry by actively seeking out relevant education and training opportunities.

As a mental health therapist, your primary focus will be on the geriatric population, recognized for their unique mental health challenges. This patient demographic often experiences increased levels of anxiety and depression, memory impairment, and significant changes in social support due to life transitions. Your role will emphasize the importance of empathy, building rapport, and trust with elderly patients and their families, creating a safe space for them to share their concerns and seek help.

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.
• Applicants must hold a current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPC, LCPC, or LMFT within the state of Illinois.
• A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in a mental health counseling role is highly preferred.
• Strong foundational knowledge regarding geriatric mental health disorders, evidence-based treatment modalities, and therapeutic interventions is crucial.
• Proven experience in providing individual and family therapy sessions tailored for older adults is essential.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, combined with a compassionate, patient-centered approach.
• Ability to effectively establish rapport and build trust with elderly clients and their families.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and relevant computer applications is required.
• Strong ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment, promoting collaborative care for patients.

While not mandatory, candidates with additional certifications or specialized training in geriatric mental health practices will be given preference. Experience in facilitating group therapy sessions for older adults can also enhance your application, alongside familiarity with community resources dedicated to elder care.
